Powerful/T-Vixen Women Speak Up Please

Last night I was reading through the following thread called:
Direction of T-Nation in T-Cell Alpha
http://www.T-Nation.com/tmagnum/readTopic.do?id=2282145
The topic of Women and T-Nation was raised by firebug9 and it inspired me to start the following thread:
Recent PR’s, 1RM’s and Goals in Powerful Women
http://www.T-Nation.com/tmagnum/readTopic.do?id=2360584&pageNo=0#2360584

However further reading of the Direction of T-Nation thread has gotten me fired up and I canâ¿¿t post a reply because I am not a member of the T-Cell! Frustrating!!! Now Iâ¿¿m thinking this is perfect opportunity to start this thread in the Powerful Women Forum and have all of the Powerful/T-Vixen Women post their thoughts. I know a lot of you have spoken up many times and may not want to again. I hope you will. Even if it is to copy and paste or simply link like I have done. Letâ¿¿s make this THE thread to tell TC and Tim Patterson how we, the women who prefer T-Nation to Figure Athlete, feel about the way things are and make suggestions about what weâ¿¿d like to see.

Here I go! : )

The last time I suggested something for women was when TC asked about input for other T-Cells. Around middle of this page:
http://www.T-Nation.com/tmagnum/readTopic.do?id=2128605&pageNo=4
Of course I was basically told to just be grateful for what we already have and go play at the Muscle Sorority site. Itâ¿¿s now called â¿¿Figure Athleteâ¿¿ and my feelings on that are at the bottom of a thread there called:
New Format, Existing Threads?

Another WOMAN said, in response to my â¿¿E-Cell Omegaâ¿¿ suggestion:

“This is TESTOSTERONE nation, not Estrogen. Try to remember the host.” And then some.

That pissed me off. Now the stuff being said in the first thread I mentioned at the very top is pissing me off again! : ) Since I canâ¿¿t post it there Iâ¿¿ll post it here.

First of all women have T too!

Second, women do count for something around here or TC would not have created the Powerful Women Forum!!

There is nothing wrong with asking for a little (not equal, just a little!) more consideration and content.

You don’t have to agree but to shoot it down or argue against says something completely different.

All set. You are a t-cell member

Damn Claire, 10 seconds too fast for me!
Pretty good since I had to figure out how to add her. I have never added anyone or posted in the t-cell. I will probably be voted off the island

Claire

I think powerful women should be a cell and taken from the forum section. And Bratt or sic should be in charge!

I think this topic has been discussed over and over during the past few years and while I admire and appreciate your enthusiasm, Bratt, I no longer give a shit.

This website is run by a COMPANY whose main goal is to make money by selling supplements. It is what it is.

They threw us a bone by making the PW forum and I don’t expect much else.

Have any of you tried out the bodybuilding.com forums?

I pretty much agree with this.

Haha, thanks Claire! : )

Sic thanks to you too. I am grateful for Powerful Women and if you were saying that you were going to vote me in but Claire beat you… thanks for that too.

Funny, it didn’t even cross my mind that that might happen so I chuckled when it did.

Jilly, I hear ya. I just wanted to try one last time and thought having everything in one post might help. I’m really hoping that TC or Tim will at least respond.

The COMPANY needs customers and women are customers just like men. Fewer possibly but we still count. Yes, I have purchased I just did it under my real name. You, Sic and Claire are all level 4! You count even more. Like I said, if enough women speak up (and having it all in one place can only help) especially the ones who buy but never post… maybe something more can happen?

Simplistic, and maybe all the same difficult to do, but accept the whole TMagnum scheme as a business venture run as a macho-ocracy…and stick to our cosy, supportive sisterhood of Powerful Woman (ironic, that name?).

If ya can’t beat 'em, discount/ignore 'em, and do the PW thing; if one feels one simply cannot exist in these secondary surroundings, resign…but don’t cut off your nose to spite your face (and read up on the Trojan Horse episode in history!)!

We don’t have to sacrifice our feistiness and principles to benefit from the positive aspects of PW; fight fire with water, a wise woman said!! The idea of judo is another helpful analogy…using another’s ‘strength’ against THEM. ‘Nuff said-Sista’ Micro

This forum was granted after considerable bitching initiated by yours truly. I was also told (not so politely) by another woman to STFU. A woman who, I might add, has admitted to benching the same 20lb dumbbells for the last 4 years.

I never considered being given a women’s cell. Although that’s about as likely as seeing articles written by women that aren’t directed at figure girls.
Hey, thanks very much for work work to get this forum set up. I never realised you were instrumental in its’ inception. Of course I haven’t been around very long.

I have a question that I hope you, or someone else can respond to. I may be thick or perhaps it’s due to the fact that I’ve only been a member here for 6 months but I’m not entirely certain what you are after.

In no way am I saying that anyone should stfu or be grateful for what we have. I’m in the same corner as you. At least I imagine I am. However, if it’s unclear to me, perhaps it is to other people as well.

Of course I’m not privy to the background on much of what has gone on. In addition, I didn’t visit muscle with attitude so the change hasn’t impacted me in the least. Can you let me know what you are looking for?

Thanks.

I hope that you guys will be okay with guys hanging out here too.

I sort of keep an eye on the powerful women thread because I have a friend who posts here and there’s a lot fewer battling retards in this thread than in most T-Nation forums.

I mean, man or woman a deadlift is a freaking deadlift right?

As usual, right on all accounts.

Just to give an update… the thread from the T-Cell called Direction of T-Nation that inspired me to start this thread continued on in a very lively discussion many pages long on the topic of women and T-Nation. Some good things came of it I think. TC responded. Looks like firebug will be interviewed very soon and more non-figure powerful women pics are being searched for.

Oh, and several new threads for powerful/strong women were started in the T-Cell by several men. I hope things will continue in a positive and proactive direction. Don’t give up ladies : )

My biggest hope is that the powerful women will stay and continue to contribute. It’s kinda lonely out in the real world being a woman lifting heavy. I’m a member of a very busy gym and I’ve yet to see anyone else, besides me, (male or female) deadlift or squat ATG in the 4 months I’ve been there.

I’ve not seen another woman lift heavy. Tell someone in your life how you just increased your deadlift by from 115 to 185 lbs in 8 weeks and they don’t respond (blank stare). Or they ask why? Why would you want to lift so much? You’re going to get big and bulky? This was a man who lifts who said that.

So yah! You’re needed and valued and appreciated even if it’s not always obvious!

Bratt:

You forgot one important point…

As my good friend in Afghanistan now would say:

"…You Rangered Up…! (Actually, its “Ranger Up, Bitch”…but I’m in mixed company, you know!)

The most vocal on “Alpha” appreciate ANYONE who lays it out, states their case, and essentially tells people “Take it or leave it…”

You “Rangered Up”…(Doesn’t sound like a “brat” to me!)

I hope you really stick around!

Mufasa

Thank you Mufasa!

Respect.

P.S.

PW’s, help me out here.

I’m trying to gain some further understanding.

Is this simply about women lifting heavy weights, or the actual sport of powerlifting?

Because if it’s the former, I’m puzzled as to why you’re dismissive of the girls on Figure Athlete?

I’ve seen Olesya Novik–Editor-in-chief of FigureAthlete.com–do effortless rack pulls from below-the-knees, strapless, with 365.

Gina Aliotti could probably place very high in a bench press or squat competition.

Granted, their sport is about what you might perceive as superficialities, but their physiques far outshine many of the bodybuilding pioneers like Rachel McClish and even Cory Everson, who many of you seem to admire.

So help me out here.

Also, in regard to the post about Biotest being a business.

Yes, that’s true.

But you should know a few things.

Fewer than 1 percent of the people who buy our products have ever posted on the forum.

Beyond that, the female lifters who post constitute somewhere around .00000001 percent of our business.

So yes, it wouldn’t hurt us a great deal if we lost your business.

Yet here I am, asking what I can do for you…on a Sunday afternoon when I could be doing a whole lot of things that aren’t nearly as potentially frustrating.

Maybe I’m way out in left field about this, but Power lifting women saying they “don’t have a place on the website (figureathlete.com)” is like me going on the BET.com forums and complaining that there is nothing on there for White Men and I feel left out.

Just my .02

TC, Thank you for that. I’d really like this issue to be laid to rest so we can get on with learning, supporting, training and playing, so I’m going to PM every Powerful Woman I can find and ask them to read this and hopefully respond.

I’ve only been here about 7 months so I’d like to give the long term members “first dibs” at responding. Hopefully it will be reasonable, helpful and construction and not just complaining.

Don’t like something? Want a solution? Come up with one and suggest it is always a lot more helpful and productive than just complaining. To be perfectly frank, put up or shut up.

And for those who have even given up complaining, and even if you have done it “a million times before”, I hope you ladies will give it one last shot.

I can only speak for myself, but for me it’s the former.

It’s not that I’m being dismissive of their accomplishments, it takes a lot to be a figure athlete. I don’t think any of the women that prefer T-Nation doubt the abilities of the FA contributers.

It’s what they contribute that’s the problem. Has there been an article lately about lifting heavy from them? (I don’t really go there anymore, I may have just missed it.) Initially MWA did have some good stuff (I loved the 20 for 12 and X shaped body articles), but lately it’s really heavy on the nutrition, traveling, motivational, am I reading Glamour, articles. So, I think it would be nice to hear what Gina does that enables her to bench so much.

It’s also kind of a turn off to read “if you load up on heavy squats, deadlifts and side bends you’ll probably screw up your proportions” as the first sentence of an article. I’d like to be able to load up heavy on my squats and still rock a bikini, FA makes me feel like that’s not possible (though it must be if Olesya and Gina can hit such big numbers.

I don’t know, I don’t really post, nor do I really expect to be catered to (thanks for the reminder about our insignificance here), but I wanted to address your question.

NOT HELPING EQTTRDR! This thread is for the women to have their voice directly to TC’s ears. Please, and I’m saying this in the most loving way : ), don’t dilute it with non-productive comments and opinions. Help not hinder.
