Power snatch (couch Davies?)

The longer I’ve been training the more I
recognize the importance of the olympic lifts.
For the past few years I’ve been incorporating
power cleans into my workouts. Only lately
have I tried doing power snatchs. But I’m
having trouble with my technique on the second
pull when using any significant weight. I
think this is partly due to psychological
fear - like I’m afraid I’m going to send the
weight flying over my head, or drop it on
my back. Any tips on improving my technique?
Thanks.

Umm, the whole point of the power snatch is to make the bar fly over your head.

If your problem is with stopping the bar over your head, practice from the high hang untiul you’re confident, then the low hang, then from the floor.

This takes the ledgs out of the movement and restricts the weight you can use. That means more chance to concentrate on form and less fear.
