Power Shrugs Underrated

in terms of comparing to other pulling movements such as the snatch, hang pulls etc etc. You have your hip velocity and explosiveness that you would get from other movements, but in power shrugs your moving alot heavier load. It’s more strength-speed oreinated as opposed to speed-strength.

Also in terms of hypertrohpy your moving some heavy ass weight. I’m not saying replace other movements with them but what about in terms of an assistance movement?

No one said that just because one exercise is good that all others suck. Snatches and cleans are great for the traps…so are power shrugs. Use whatever works for you and change it up often.

Why wouldn’t you use all of these movements in your training? I think they all work well.

Isn’t there a bicep tear risk?

I used to do shrugs with really heavy weight in a strength-speed understanding. My trap development was very good. But I can’t live in the gym anymore so I chose the idea of training economy. Shrugs, or power shrugs, had to take a part in past history rather than present history. It helped accomlish the same is all I am saying.

Yea, but there is in deadlifts to. If you learn to do the movement using the right muscles, it shouldn’t be a problem.

I am so glad Celtic is here.
