Sorry if this is the wrong spot but was my best guess.
In the market for a Power Rack/Cage. I do use weights but my primary focus/goals is bodyweight exercises. However, with where I live now my number one tool really doesn’t have a good place to anchor them, and since the ceiling in the garage is so high, a Power Rack/Cage would be the best universal tool for this purpose. Not to say that maybe one day I won’t be getting a barbell and bench for it, but right now it’s not my focus.
The ones I have liked so far is the ones from Nautilus, Cybex, and Life Fitness. However, I am still reviewing, getting specs, etc. The key thing to remember is the top two exercises in my arsenal are dips (weighted and unweighted) and pull/chin-ups and variations of them and also weighted at times. Primary tools used would be a pull-up bar, Olympic Rings, and naturally a towel over pull-up bar.
I am also interested in taking ideas past the norm such as Ross Enamait building a shelf to do Sandbag Training (yes I will be asking him too).
Thanks guys but pretty set on my decision since I posted this. First I was going to go with the Rogue Fitness R-4 which puts that Elite Fitness to shame and after shipping they are pretty much the same price. Plus the stuff you can add to it is insane. Great product!!!
BUT
Then I cleared my head and realized why spend all those $$$ when I can get this which with my workouts and what not would be a smarter move. Granted the Rogue model is sweet and unlimited on uses but I think for me it’s over kill. That is more for someone that goes crazy heavy on weights or/and runs a gym.
Then a gym supply store I sent an email to came back with pretty much the same rack as the Deltech but different manufacturer and can get it for me as soon as this weekend all I have to do is transport it to my garage: no big deal for that will be my workout for the day for I am sure it won’t be light.
So here is the one I decided on! Keep in mind I am just getting the cage, not that extra weight attachments.
Me likey! Also, the price he quoted me was a really good one: a lot cheaper than all the others I was looking at.
A few good looking ones from amazon, the first one also has dip bars. I’ll be ordering a power rack within the next couple of months also, these looks great unless I’m missing something. Amazon seems to have better prices and shipping than ordering from a fitness retailer.

For the price I was kind of impressed with that one too, and their bench looked solid too. I have not purchased anything yet but that setup is less than half the cost of the EFS one (mostly because of shipping). This other local store had another rack I didn’t really like for $500 or maybe more now so I was convinced I would need to spend a grand or more for something I wouldn’t be disappointed with.
When Rogue teamed up with Louis from West-Side, their racks got pretty bad ass. I’d go with them since you said body weight kind of stuff is what you are shooting for. Those racks are awesomely expandable. I own an EFS rack and am totally happy with it but IF I were in the rack market I’d have to go with Rogue.
I just went through the same search. Started with the economy rack from EFS and went from there. I ended up going with the R-4 after comparing rack to rack. Their customer service is far away better than anyone I talked to, and I had my rack in 4 days. For what you described above it may be a bit overkill but I guarantee you will not regret it. It comes standard with two pull up bars with one being a fat bar. In addition to their racks they offer a plethora of attachments which would fit your style perfectly.
The first link look at these specs:
Dip handle capacity: 275 pounds
Pull-up bar capacity: 325 pounds
That is low considering how much I weight plus planning to do weighted dips. That won’t cut the mustard.
The other two, not so sure but thanks for the links.
I personaly own a natilus explode power rack and half rack, both solid and well built, but they don’t allow for a bar to pass through a hole in the rack like the old ones used to, they use a clip system, this means you can’t set up for partials in the pressing moves, I like the old racks that have holes you can slide the bar through.
This being said if I was buying a rack to have at my home, a half rack will do everything you need, takeing up less space and money. It’s personal choice just keep in mind what I said about some of the racks useing a clip system, this can become anoying.
Goodluck
just read your post above, I bought some body solid equip. for the gym last year, a decline bench and weight holder, really cheap stuff, would not recomend, will not hold up, atleast the stuff I bought, really diapointed, the R4 looks good, try to stay to good names, if your ordering it, cause can be flimsey when you get it
I finally pulled the trigger: I actually ordered the Rogue R-4 with the stabilizer bar. Now just going to ask for the extras like the monkey bar and the dip attachment for my b-day from my GF.

You wont regret it. I love my R-4. It’s a quality piece that seems like it will takes years of abuse. Rogue is a great company to deal with as well.
Thanks guys. The only thing that is making me sick right now is the wait for I want to slap her together and get to using her. Now I have to wait a few more days for just got a call from UPS Freight and they have it all on a pallet weighing 415lbs so they need a special truck to deliver it on my driveway and they can’t do it till Monday.
The wait is the killer, what was shipping alot, I know when I set up my gym, shipping costs were killer, I bought my free weights here in Canada because the weights I wanted were made in the states, but I couldn’t afford to ship them over the border.

I do like the stuff at Dick’s. I haven’t purchased any equipment from them, but I picked up a couple of 45 pound grip plates from them for $0.99 a pound!

3-month thread, I know, but how did it work out?
I’m trying to decide between Rogue & Sorinex for a rack/bench setup. The breadth of Rogue’s product line is pretty impressive, but every time I think I’ve decided I see photos that give me pause, like welds that are half-done.
While Sorinex doesn’t seem to be geared quite to the same “garage gym” market, their stuff looks like it’d hold up a submarine if called upon.
Just makes me wish there were better avenues to inspect this stuff close up before buying…it’s a lot of money to sink into an unknown.
Go with nthe Rogue R-3 (Westside rack) or R-4 (deeper rack) cheaper than most of EFS rack and just as good if not better.
You can install a dip attachment (matador) and get a multi-grip pull-up bar.
I ordered a lot of stock from Rogue and the service is really good.
Good luck.

Don’t forget about Legend either. Universal used them at a show recently for their equipment and they are very nice. You just need to decide what you want and contact them for a quote. They make some really nice stuff.
