I think I’ve been doing power clean all wrong. I maxed out at 215 at school. My highest max was 245 in weightlifting class. But this is a new time that I’m in it. I think I could’ve gotten a lot more had I had better technique.
My main question is, when you accelerate upward, are you lifting mainly with your legs with enough force that arm strength is irrelevent when flipping the bar? I think I used my arms a lot more than I should have.
I have really strong arms, back and legs but I feel that if I had better technique I could’ve added a good 20-30 pounds when I last maxed out.
arm strength is almost completely irrelevent in a power clean. to put it simply it should be almost entirely trapezius, shoulders, and leg drive. there are plenty of vids out there.
