So I have been doing the Olympic Lifts for about a year now and have recently have had a problem involving the power clean. After the I catch the bar and adjust my grip for the Jerk I become light headed and my vision blurs. This happens for a about 5 seconds before I become normal again. Has anyone ever experienced this before and should be concerned? This btw a recent problem
The zoomies. I don’t get’em very often, but I believe they’re related to a lack of oxygen in the brain caused either by you holding your breath while you’re lifting or the barbell being right up against your throat. Some people tend to get’em worse than others. That’s about the best I can offer. Wouldn’t say it’s a concern unless it’s having a negative effect on your lifting or it’s causing you to pass out under a heavy barbell. I also think it tends to be more common when squat cleaning as opposed to power cleaning.

Yes I 've had that happen. I think its like the other dude said, lack of oxygen. For me its kinda like a mini hyperventilation and then deeply inhaling so that when i finish pulling the weight and have it on my shoulders or in the power clean finish position I feel light headed. Try to pay attention to your breathing pattern and don’t hyperventilate… Does that make sense for you?
