Pour Some Sugar on Me

Thrilled to hear your old job is still available and that you can return to it. Major win.

I can totally relate to the rack issue. One of my gyms has a wide rack. I’ve finally refused to squat heavy in it because if I don’t align exactly right, I can’t rack the weight. I’ve almost fallen as a result. Who wants to be fucking around with aligning perfectly to re-rack?

Take some time to decompress. AND EAT. You don’t wanna be scrawny.

sounds like a great move back to your old company! work just isn’t worth killing yourself over.

Looking forward to seeing your newest ghetto setup

I would do exactly the same thing in your situation. Gracefully admit that the new job isn’t you and move on. And it sounds like you’ve lost nothing at the old place by your foray into the unknown. All good!

Eat up. Can’t be too skinny for all that expensive gear.

Looks like both you and your older boss learned some valuable information. Much win.

and isolation for the private gym seems best. Lookin forward to the vid showcasing the gheto rack pull I believe it was?

Training related:

We trained last night at a local commercial gym and it was kind of shitty. I’ve lost a bit of weight and my gear is all loose. We were going to join a commercial gym over the cold months but everything about it is distracting. I don’t like the mirrors, the bars or the racks. The rack last night was so wide there was barely and inch clearance on either side of the bar so walking out didn’t allow for any lateral movement at all which is difficult when you get heavy and I almost fell over walking out 315 which not a big weight for me.

I’ve become a bit of a princess with regards to the bars I use. I’m spoiled by my TPB and the shiny commercial ones don’t cut it for me at all. I drove BB nuts last night at the gym rearranging the rack and switching bars about 10 times. He didn’t kill me so he must love me… a lot

Today, I purchased an oil heater for the garage and carpet underlayment for insulation at the bottom of the garage door plus 3’ of pipe for a ghetto lat pull down and row thing I’ve set up using bands. I may video them because I’m quite proud of myself.

i feel your pain. im in the same boat this time of year when I have to eat crap and go to the Local YMCA.

Sunday December 12

Deadlift
135-5
225–3
275-3 belt/straps down
300-1 "
330-1 straps up
360-2x1 straps up. I did this twice because I’m having a hard time getting down and arching into the bar with my straps up. These were both pure back pulls
300-2x2 straps down
300-3 straps up. Still focusing on arching into the bar. My legs are a mess now.

Zerchers off the pins. We wrapped the pins in foam and it makes the zerchers better because the bar isn’t rolling and it doesn’t make such a racket.
135-5
225-3
245-3 belt
255-2,1

CG Bench to pins - equivalent to 2 board
45-6
95-8
105-8
115-5

Standing band crunches
3x20

I’m going to dial back the volume on my max stuff. I’ve been following the same template as I’ve done the last few meets but this time it feels like too much. I’m worried I’ll just grind myself down.

This is the video of my ghetto lat pull down. We have 6 or 7 sets of bands. I’m using one of the smaller ones with a 3’ length of pipe. I’m sitting on my flat bench with my knees under one foam wrapped pin of the rack. I was pleased with how well this worked out. Using bands is definately a different beast than doing them with a weight stack.

This is my version of a low row with bands. My feet are braced on a 2" x 8" board. I think this bands is a bit much for me. The $9 piece of pipe was a stroke of training genius for me:) I can replicate a lot of cable exercises using the pipe and bands.

Clearly I don’t get out much.

Today I made dark chocolate with cinnamon and chilli peppers. It’s delicious. I had to go out to get the chillis so it’s all good

wow- thanks for the ideas! I can do both of those with my setup plus bands, now I gotta get more bands…

Very clever, you are. And you’re so right about the bands having a different feel than a weight stack when employed like that. Will definitely challenge your muscles in a different way.

I gotta say, you have a totally hot body. I mean, you could be a swimsuit model with those legs and all.

Congrats on the new old job with better benefits.

That 300x2 is damn fine Julie.

So, did you just do shots of liquid chocolate? The stuff that dreams are made of…

I also like the bands idea since I won’t have a cable setup with my new rack.

And, two words…Santa.Hat.

you’re taking ghetto to a whole new level!

love the idea. so crafty. dark chocolate sounds divine…

Sunday December 19

Box pulls
135-5
225-5
315-3
365-3
405-2
425-2 (7.5lbs PR)
435-1 (17.5 lb PR)
445-0

I was very happy with this today. Not so much that I pulled bigger weight but because it was from discovering that I can pull faster and with more force if my feet aren’t angled out so far. I moved them to a 45 degree angle and made my base more solid so I wasn’t as tentative. My grip was good and they came up and locked out faster than the lighter weights did with my feet at a different angle.

If TNT-Cdn is reading this, do you recognize the boxes??

DL to knees
135-5
185-5
205-5
225-5
245-3

Hanging leg raises
3x10

Tricep work - giffens
10-20
25-10,12

holy crap those are heavy pulls!!!
good for you on keeping an open mind and trying new stuff out once in a while.

My feet are at about a 45 degree angle and I couldn’t angle them further out without pain and instability. You must be quite flexible to have done so.

That is an amazing lot of weight on that bar!

Ummm. Wow.

Will that cute guy spot me if I come visit and do box pulls?

When I do my piddly sumo accessory pulls, my feet are seriously pointed out. Maybe too far. I’ll try differently tomorrow.

We will find out if she has got it going on Sunday. She is strong as I have seen her.
Sunday is her last heavy day…should be fun.LOL

We are going to Niagara to squat with my club on Friday. We are going all out and kicking each others asses.
Ouro is coming with me and I expect some good numbers with the spotters that she will have. As for myself, I will so something stupid.

I only spot Ouro, Ksnap and all the other T-ladies from now on.

BB

Effen hell Julie, thats some strong lock outs.
