that is still a wonderful raw bench, my god !
Okay maybe you can answer this question for me. How do you focus on getting leg drive? You’ve mentioned on my bench videos that I get no leg drive but i have some sort of mind/body disconnect when trying to actually get any.
Yeah, you’ve got alot on your plate right now. A new job is a big fat stressor, but its exciting to learn new things. With that kind of office, pretty soon, you’ll have us all calling you m’am and bringing you coffee. In short skirts and low-cut tops.

What BB got me to do to train leg drive is to focus on flexing my glutes hard when I’m pushing off my chest. That gives me the mental connection to drive with my legs. I don’t always remember but I’m getting better.

It is a lot of stress changing jobs. Today was nice though. Every Thursday, we have ‘lunch and learn’ for two hours and discuss topics of interest and eat delicious food. Today was tandoori chicken. It was nice. It was kind of like sitting around the dining room table at home.
I spent most of the day researching renting or buying a used roof kettle and all the component parts that would be needed and going through materials lists for a built up re-roof job and a garage rehab on the same condo unit. I’m quickly researching concrete refurbishing and rebar replacement.
Thursday November 4
Squat
45-10
115-5
155-3
185-2
205-3
207.5-4x3 (I’d meant to move up in weight with the little plates but forgot on the first set)
217.5-1.5,2 The first set I pitched forward and couldn’t quite good morning the second rep up
227.5-1,1
I may have mentioned earlier but I got a mouth guard. I used it on the heavier sets and I really like it. It tastes like tandoori chicken now:) I’d had pains in my jaw after squatting and realised I was bearing down hard and am paranoid about cracking teeth. The mouth guard means I can clench to my heart’s content. Conversing with it in make me sound like a special O lifter but it’s all good.
Bench-light
90-8x3
MP
70-4x7
BB row
135-5,8,8,5
I was really bagged tonight and the squats felt tough.
A mouthguard. Wow. You must really clench your jaw tightly. This may sound really weird, but I have my mouth wide open on the way up with heavy singles. I was never aware I was doing it until my coach pointed it out. Now I’m a bit sensitive about how goofy that must look.
Sanp-i usually stick my tongue out at some point of my lifting…
that leg drive thing is no joke! i finally figured that glute clenching out a few weeks ago and it does really help! clench the crap out of your glutes, it also helps to think of benching as more of ass exercise so i hate it slightly less.
Not sure if it’s legit advice but I stand on my legs, with my butt barely touching the bench. It reminds me to us those suckers.
Psssssst!!..
She (the wife) actually did it!! :))) lol!
Then even got her to keep the vampire costume on… with the teeth! Doc says my wounds should heal in about a week or so, but there may be scarring… and to wear boxers until then… :))

Playing dress up can be fun. I saw the costumes. Very nice. She looked great. Maybe I need to progress beyond the creative use of deadlift kneesocks ![]()

Thanks. My raw squats could be much better if I spent more time training them.
Sunday November 7
Deadlift - straps down
135-5
225-3
275-2
295-3x3 belt on, paused reps
295-6 touch and go
Box pulls - from just below knee
225-5
275-5
315-3
365-3 belt on
407.5-2 (rep and 2.5lb PR - I’ve only pulled 405 for singles before)
417.5-2 PR (rep and weight) After I did these 2 reps, my blood pressure dropped and I hit the floor like a sack of potatoes. BB laughed because after I spit out my mouthguard, I asked him to add 10 lbs more to the bar.
427.5-0,0 The right side pulled up no problem but the left didn’t. I’ve got it next time
Floor press
45-10
95-5
115-5
125-2,1
115-5
Bar roll outs
3x10
Great work. That’s a lot of pulling…and a lot of weight.
Loved the “After I did these 2 reps, my blood pressure dropped and I hit the floor like a sack of potatoes. BB laughed because after I spit out my mouthguard, I asked him to add 10 lbs more to the bar”…hardcore ![]()

He liked it too. He said that that’s the kind of thing he’d like to get a video of. It’s much more interesting than the regular stuff. Plus we had broken out the ammonia caps. I think I’ll use them more.
So you had an ammonia sniff before that pull? I’ve never tried that stuff. Maybe I should? Do you use it at meets?
Your DL weights are just atrocious. You are so amazing.
love the attitude - leave no survivors! lol.
jesus Christ that damn fine pulling. Congrats on the PR and adding more to the bar while having a near death experience.
