I thought I’d come hang with the elderly crowd.

I’m wearing a super katana that I inherited from another local lifter. She was never able to wear it so it was brand new. I got it from her last spring and it was a bit much for me at first but I’m getting a lot out of it now and should get a shit ton more once I get it dialed in.
Score. 185 is solid stuff. Do you still bench raw at all?

oh my god–there are soo many damm bench rules! :{ But i guess that’s just how it is.

Yours is outstanding of course,as always! SO powerful! I’m a bad deloader myself…i’m the same way, i decompress by blasting it out.

I like either a little light speed work or nothing at all during a deload. Broad jumps, box jumps, jump squats, light deads, and light bench, all for multiple sets of triples as fast as possible, with 25-50% of max. Or, a bunch of food, a hot tub, and a good book.
Option B looks good!!!

I switch it up every second week or so with more weeks raw than in a shirt. I think it would be too much to put a shirt on every week. It’d wear me out. My raw bench is creeping up to almost body weight. It sounds kind of sucky but this has always been my weak lift so I nourish any little gains I make

Mentally I always feel best when I’m pushing it as hard as I can but I’m trying to be smart and have a recovery week. I’ve been looking at a lot of your stuff and think I’m going to do OH squats and stuff with light weight just for fun and flexibility.

Option B looks good to me too. I have a good book but sadly, no hot tub. I usually just make do with the bath tub.

In reality, I’ll be going with option A or DOMS with kill me. Besides, I’m like a little kid with antsapants and have a tough time sitting still.

I am exactly the same way.

A raw bodyweight bench, especially a legal PL one with the pause, is a really laudable goal for women I believe. The closest I’ve come is 100 lb. at 110 lb. bodyweight.

Yeah, Brute’s lifts are amazing. She is so talented. I have had the privilege of seeing her lift in person since she lives close. She is naturally extremely strong.

Do you the ants in pants with or with out ass crack…

185 is nice

Thanks for the bench compliment. Pretty soon it will be 185 for real and then who knows? A lot of the increases are based on confidence. Six months ago, I wouldn’t have even attempted it, now I feel like 200 may not be too far away. We’ll see

Today was focusing on singles and seeing if I could get a bit of speed
265-4x1 straps down
295-4x1 straps down/wraps
315-2x1 straps down/wraps
The 295s weren’t bad but the 315s were far from speedy. I used my convict wraps tonight. I had to cut a few inches off and hem the edges last night. They work well but I swear just wrapping with them wore me right out. My hands are cramping. The good news is that the 315 straps down wasn’t a fluke when I did them a couple of weeks ago.

Now officially starts my deload week. I may not even do anything until Tuesday. I have two days left at my job and the new one starts November 1. I’ve been there just over 7 years and I have very mixed feelings about leaving. It’s time to go. I need to do something new but I almost feel like I’m getting a divorce and leaving family.

At what point do you put your suit on? On the 235?

Why did you cut inches off your wraps? The more times they go around your knees, the better the support. I’ve always felt sorry for people with thick knees. I get way more go-arounds than most people.

I’ve always had a hard time leaving jobs. I get pretty attached to the routines and people. Become very invested in my work.

yei!! OH squats are so fun!

and wow, that is a change after 7 years–its hard leaving people you’re pretty much lived with for that long. i’m sure they will miss you sorely :{

blush thanks snapper :}

I put the suit on at 235 typically. That’s the set when I get it seated.

I cut the wraps because they sold me 2m wraps that were longer than 2m. They didn’t pass equipment check at my last meet. I only just got 'round to cutting them to the right length. Fortunately, I have skinny knees so I get a lot out of them.

Is there a federation where you don’t have to be a contortionist and a mechanical engineer?

Your squatting is always impressive.

I think they won’t miss me as much as they think they will. In six months, they won’t remember my name. No one is irreplaceable. They made me an embarrassingly good offer to stay and when I declined it I think they were perplexed.

That’s a negative. There’s an entrance exam to compete. It’s a good thing I still remember my basic math skills. Pi R squared is called upon more frequently than you might imagine.

Seriously though, my sewing skills come in very handy. Other people have to pay to have their gear altered, I do it all myself (within IPF guidelines of course). I tighten everything up by hand and can change it as I go if I so desire.

This does not please me.

One more niggling, hard-to-judge detail likely to cause unnecessary red lights. Maybe there should be a IPF-approved bench bondage harness so that one is assured of proper positioning?

I’m already sewing one. I’ll slap a titan logo on it and it’ll be good to go.

Monday October 25

Deload day
I was kind of at loose ends so I just kind of futzed around without any real plan. BB did a bit of light stuff preparatory to Saturday’s meet so I put wooden training plates on one of the bars and did some light cleans and presses and OH squats.

I think I did 5 sets of 10 at 50 & 70lbs but I wasn’t tracking it. I was just playing with my snatch and then squatting for sets.

Then it was 4 or 5 sets of 10 push ups and 3 sets of light bench. Then I invented a ghetto GHR using my bench, rack, a wooden box and a towel. It actually works pretty well.

I’ll try something similar on Thursday. BB is working evenings so I’m going it alone. He’s a bit worried that he’ll come home to find me tangled up in the bands trying to invent some kind of Cirque du Soleil inspired exercise.
