Pour Some Sugar on Me

That’s a huge increase. Your training is obviously working very, very well for you.

Kimba: I stall on the floor too. If I can break it off the floor, I can lock it out. Weird.[/quote]

I’ve always been weak off the floor and strong at lock out. That’s why I’ve done so well with gear especially since I’ve been tweaking my own stuff and tightening it up.

Deadlift is funny in that once you’re done, you’re really done for the day. It shuts off like a light for me.

Next time I decide to try to max, I’ll jump right to 380+ from 365. It won’t be for a while yet though.

I too stall just off the floor. I also 100% understand what you mean about DL’s being done. The second I’m gassed, I’m out and will not pull again.

Wednesday October 6

Bench
45-10
65-5
95-3
105-2
135-3 shirt on, as close to chest as possible-about 2" off. I like this better than boards.
155-3 to chest
165-2 to chest
175-0,0,0 with commands. This was a bit frustrating. I kept hitting just a touch too low, getting it off my chest and stalling. I think we’d pulled the shirt a bit too much for the weight so I let it drift up a bit
155-1 commands
145-3x1 with commands. I let the shirt drift a lot higher and I was able to hit a good spot even though it was choking me out.
155-2x1 commands
165-1 commands

I’m happy enough with that. My arms are chewed up and my neck is a bit as well but I know I can touch with a light weight to open with if I just let the shirt ride up. I don’t want to use it in a meet knowing I have to open with a shit ton of weight just to touch.

Squat
45-10
135–3
155-5x3
These I focused on staying tight and keeping a short walk out. When we were training in Toronto, I watched Sensgirl walk her squats out. When she does, it looks like everything is very heavy and her steps are very deliberate and short. Since the weight isn’t heavy for her, it must help with setting it up. I’ll admit to being a copy cat since doing it like that saves energy and put me in the same spot every time I did it.

DB bench
41-7,9,7,7,3

Good mornings
135-5
155-5
175-5
195-5
205-5
215-5

I’ve still been tired and dragging my ass in the mornings but waking up mid day. I’ll be seeing my stupid/depressed doctor next week to see if I can sort this crap out.

Also, while we were training, a friend of the lady next door knocked on the garage window to see if it was okay if her daughter played in the back yard with my daughter. We chatted with her for a few minutes and she had a look around the gym in the garage. I was in my bench shirt and she was talking about staying in shape doing belly dancing videos. She must have wondered what the hell we were doing in the garage in the super fancy shirts.

That must be really helpful that you have someone to give you pressing commands.

Does this sound familiar?

I’m still in a fog this AM, and all I got out of your last post was belly dancing in a bench shirt. Is that even possible, I wonder.

^^^ Well, your arms would hang in front of you at a funny angle while you gyrated the hips. It would be an odd sight.

215 X 5 GM ? Nice!

look what I found!

Very nice addition to O’s log, nlmain.

You did not just straddle my face in a singlet!!! If I had a dime…

The question is, what did you search to find that video? I think that boy has a real future.

Friday October 8

After a bit of a stressful day involving a couple of hours at a walk in clinic with my daughter and a counter offer from my current employer after I tended my resignation last week we got off to a bit of a late start.

Squat
45-10
115-5
155-3
195-1
I wasn’t sure how much further I would go because I could feel a painful pull in my left hamstring and adductor when I hit depth.
235-3 straps down
265-1 "
295-1 straps down/wraps PR I think. I don’t think I’ve gone this heavy straps down but it was fast and easy.
315-1 straps down/wraps. Definate PR by 20 or 30lbs. I’m not sure. It was kind of slow but depth was good
335-0, 1 The first one I got out of my groove and went too far back but the second one was easy. Depth was borderlin(ish) but I think I can throw another 10-20lbs on soon.

The video seems a bit boring after the sexy singlet dance.

That being said, do you think you could indulge us with a little vid of your own?

Seriously, nice work on the squats. It seems like you are on the most amazing upward trajectory with all your lifts.

I’d rather watch you squat those heavy ass weights anyday. it always blows my mind.

I was looking for something to comment on Kimba’s belly dancing in a lifting shirt. wrote “dancing in a singlet” and this creature popped up.

I am not sure about belly dancing, but I could see her in the background of a Cypress Hill video in a bench shirt with her arms at a funny angle dancing around with a 4 foot graffix.

Monday October 11 - Field trip to Niagara PL club

Squat
45-10
115-5
155-3
195-1
235-3 straps down
265-1-"
295-1 s down/wraps
315-1-straps up
335-1 "
The reason I squatted heavy 3 days after I already squatted was because we’d have a lot of spotters and I wanted to take advantage of it. The plan was to go heavier than 335 because it felt so easy on Friday. It didn’t feel easy today but it feels good that I can still push it out when I’m feeling a bit beat up.

Deadlift - alternate sumo and conventional
135-5
185-3
225-3x3
225-1x13

CG Bench
45-10
85-8
95-2x8

Various ab stuff

It’s always fun when we go train with those guys and a good laugh. It’s nice to have a different atmosphere. I wish we could do it more.

nice squating

I always like training at new gyms. Although if I’m doing something really serious (like geared singles), I like to be in a familiar environment.

I’m with you there. I don’t like to do a lot of heavy, geared squats at typical commercial gyms but the trip to the ‘Y’ is different in that one of the PL clubs trains there so you have a ton of experienced spotters. That’s the ideal time to push stuff like that. Plus the change in energy gets me up a bit more than usual.

Do you find yourself as strong pulling conv.? If you were alternating sets, it seems that the change in style didn’t make you any difference.

Me, I get leg shake at low weights pulling conv., but never in sumo.
