Pour Some Sugar on Me

what Hel said. Congratulations.

Very impressive meet, O. To be so close to elite status. What a great goal to shoot for. I’m also impressed that you can even think about getting compression shorts on under your suit.

Thanks, I figured with suits, everything went. Appreciate learning something new.

I’m personally just getting on track lifting again. My kid swims, I lift. They even have a youth area (as in even younger than the normal “youth” area for lifting) and they may let her start early, which she has wanted to do.

Thanks for all the nice responses. The meet was fun. It was one flight of 12 people and only 2 women. It was the smallest one I’ve done with a lot of novice lifters. I ended up talking for a while to the only other woman who was also in my weight class and it was her first meet.

She almost bombed on bench but was given a fourth attempt due to interference and was able to pull it off. It’s funny how excited you can get for the other lifters. Start to finish was about 2 hours and absolutely blasted my cns. I feel like I’ve been smashed in the head.

My total puts me 15kg shy of an elite total so I’m easing my way towards that :)
The only thing I have figured out is meets run too long so you get cold, or too short so you get fried. Either way at the end of the day you feel banged to shit.

Regarding getting excited for other lifters. I recently had my first job as a handler. My gym owner bombed out in one meet, so decided he wanted to do the Illinoin APF meet the following weekend for redemption. I think my andreline was more cranked running around to make sure his shit was ok than if I had done the lifting.

When he got his first squat in I had that huge stress drop, thinkinging ok, now we just got the bench… that and the 7 hour drive ran me ragged. I got home and my wife handed me a cocktail at the door, which, considereding she is very pregrant, was very cool of her, and very understanding…

Awesome work O_b_S

see look at what food and some moderated volume can do.

I should probably subscribe to that.

great job.

I’ve only ever competed in the CPU which is an IPF affiliate and they have very specific rules governing what can be worn right down to the underpants

That would be fun if your daughter wants to start lifting too. My younger daughter has expressed an interest and wanders into the garage when I’m training and we play around a bit with it. I don’t push anything because at that age it would suck the fun right out of it.

I’d like to get involved with the high school program. My daughter’s high school has a team that has over 20 lifters. Yesterday at the meet I was chatting with one of the guys that’s been around for a while and he gave me name of the guy who coaches at the school. He’s a local lifter so we probably have run into each other. More and more girls are getting involved in the sport but it’s still male dominated and I thought they might appreciate some assistance from a female lifter. The only caveat is my daughter that goes to the school. She hates the idea of me being at the school so I may have to wear a bag on my head

Last summer I handled bunny at his first push pull as well as Ruggerlife (his third meet). Bunny pulled a big PR on his third and I think we may have sterilised him with the effort but I felt the excitement of that pull as much as he did.

Hey. I was looking for the giraffe, but got sugar instead. Stop confusing me.

I’m a sweet giraffe with razor blades mixed in for fun.

There is a reason for the name change. After the meet a few of us went out for lunch and one of the guys was talking about a meet he went to somewhere in the States in which each lifter was basically ‘piped in’ to the song of their selection when they went up to lift. I gather there was quite an eclectic selection. I’d like to be piped in by Def Leppard. For some reason, that song never fails to get me cranked. Maybe it’s my sweet tooth

Hey, I finally found this.

Great job on the week-end!

As for your daughter placing restrictions on your entrance into the high school, just tell her you’re thinking of wearing the squat suit (w/ wraps) to the cheer competition.

Thanks. It was a lot of fun. I’m glad it finished up so quickly that we had time to be dissed over our choice of Swiss Chalet for lunch. I still have to post the picture of your cardio to make weight.

haha, I forgot about that. Can’t wait to see the photo!

Thumbs up on the new title. I’m more of a 'Bringing on the Heartbreak" fan myself. I will probably start a new log here in a few months, right now I’m happy being filler.

I got my powerpants and erector shirt in the mail yesterday. The pants were a bitch to get on because there’s nothing to grab like a suit. I have to think of something like handles. So I put both of them on and did a bit of squatting but only went to 225 just to get a feel for it. There is definately some carryover from the pants but not a ton.

It’s almost like tight knee sleeves for your ass. The shirt was weird to get on because unlike a bench shirt, the material is stiff and constricting all the way around. I start training deadlift again on Sunday and am excited to try it together with my normal suit.

When we were playing around last night, I still had the suit sleeves under the pants and my daughter came into the garage and told me I look very silky. Frank just got a look because it looked like he was wearing booty shorts under his t-shirt.

My first meet sigh… you, Court and Rugger were so kind and patient with me, you guys were awesome. If it were not for OB, I would not have won theat competition. Think it was a 30 or 40 pound deadlift pr too that she talked me into…

I have only done 2 meets, and both were “push pull”… so I want to go back to the place where I lost a portion of my virginity… and go all the way this time by taking part in a 3 lift. Gonna try for my level 2… raw. Look forward to seeing you and Frank there!!

late congrats on your meet performance!

I’m so glad to hear you’ll be there as well. The truth about the final pull is that Frank was the man behind it. He was the one checking out your competition and said what he’d put on the bar. That’s what you got

So Miss O, when did you turn 35?? Just recently?

Last fall…for the 10th time

I haven’t posted too much in these parts since last fall and let my last log in PW die out for a variety of reasons. However, I miss keeping a training log and thought I’d move it to the old(er) peoples section.

I will be entering my 8th meet this Saturday in the company of Ruggerlife. It’s just a small local open meet for a bit of fun since I skipped nationals last weekend due to the non-appearance of the cash fairy.

My last meet was Provincials the end of January. The attached picture is my final pull of 151.0 kg (332lbs). This weekend I hope to pull 160.0 (353). I’m looking to squat up to 140 (308) and bench 70 (155) so we’ll see what happens.

I haven’t really trained since last Thursday other than one day in my shirt on Sunday and some light stuff Tuesday night. Physical stuff has been primarily confined to putting up a bitch of a shed in the back yard to get the bikes and stuff out of the garage to make more room for the gym…
Pouring sugar ON you would be a waste. Putting sugar in the bowl is better.

A 400 Wilks is really good. I hope you keep up the good work.
Maybe we will see a 500 in your future.
