Pour Some Sugar on Me

Great bench and great PR! You are looking really strong.

Gotta ask…what are you doing when you cross you arms in front of you, just before you lay back? Looks like you are grabbing your belt, but maybe not…

Most excellent PR!

Skip - looks like she is keeping her bench shirt seated while setting up.

Looking strong. Can’t wait to see how you do at the upcoming meet.

Thanks. I have to say I’m pretty vain about my arch. Kind of weird right? I was really stoked about the PR. I’m a weak bencher so it’s a big jump for me. If I can get in the super katana and control it, I should get another 10.

ps.
I have mentioned it before,
Ms.O_b_S I like this big bencher fellow more and more.

Thanks puppet guy. I’m feeling good right now I just have to keep it going for a few more weeks.

If you want to see BB in fine form you have to read the shit he stirs up in powerlifting.

Soldog is right. I’m pulling my belt down as I’m lying on the bench to keep my shirt tight and not riding up. All the belt does is hold the shirt tight.

Great bench PR, congrats.

Ouch your arch makes my lower back cry.

I’m more likely to get lat cramps. I guess my arch is the pay off for years of gymnastics as a kid

Nice benching. That arch is incredible. Good job.

Thanks very much

Friday July 30

Squat
45-10
115-5
155-3
195-1
235-3 suit straps down
265-1 straps up/wraps
280-1 "
This wasn’t the planned progression for today but I’d been thinking about warm ups for the meet. I don’t like a ton of warm ups because fitting in too many sets just adds to the stress so this is my planned warm up progression to my opener of 127.5 kg (280ish lbs)

275-3,2 straps down/wraps. This was tougher than it should have been. I was wearing my new suit and every rep after the first was hard.

295-2 straps up wraps

315-1 straps up/wraps. This was high. After the set at 295, I pulled the suit off and put it on again. The legs are too short and ride up after one rep and I lose a lot of support and pop. I don’t want to have to frig around with the suit between attempts because it’s exhausting.

315-2x1 This was in the old suit with Frank wrapping my knees. The first was parallel because the suit wasn’t set. The second was good. The both felt easy.

I’ve decided to wear my old suit to squat for the meet.

Bench light
75-8x3

DB/Kroc rows
37-10
57-20,14

superset with MP

70-2,6,7,5 The first set was only 2 because it felt unreasonably heavy. I’d planned on going with 60lbs and realised my mistake. I’ve never done 70 for reps and decided to stick with it.
77.5-1
85-1 This was a 10lb PR. I hadn’t tested my max in about 2 years but the last time I did it was 75. It’s still not great but all the pressing and rowing I’ve added in has pushed up my bench.

That’s such a bummer about the suit. Are there any further alterations that can be made to make it work more for you? Lemme know if you wanna sell. I might be able to make it work for me.

nice 10lbs PR Oro

It might be okay if I can tighten up the legs a bit. They are shorter than my 32. It’s only since I’ve gotten the custom suit that I’ve spent time figuring out what I like and what works well for me. I like super tight in the hips and longer legs. The new suit worked well the first few times because it was really humid and they stuck to my skin and didn’t slide around. I got a ton of pop out of it. Last night when I was squatting 275 straps down it was hard because it kept pulling up and I lost the pop off the bottom.

Quite honestly, I just want me a pink suit.

First I need to learn how to squat the bar again.

Your legs are incredibly long for a PLer. I can’t imagine my suit sliding up. But I have serious thighage to hold it in place.

Sunday August 1

Deadlift
135-5
225-5
265-3
295-1 straps up
320-1 straps up/opener
The point of this progression was to cut out one set of my warm up and see how it felt. This is my work up to my opener for the meet.
Then I continued with my planned work sets
255-2x3 straps down
285-5x2 "

Walk-outs 1/4 squats singles to high pins
This was to feel heavy weight, practice my walk out with heavy weight and have Frank practice wrapping my knees
I started with 135, 225, 275
315 Frank wrapped my knees
345-straps up
365-"
385-"
405-"
These were a lot of fun. I’ve never walked out 405 never mind bent my knees with it on my back.

CG Bench to 2 boards
95-5
115-5
135-5
145-2

CG Bench to chest
85-2x8

DL Deficits
135-5
155-5
165-5
175-5
185-5

Another good, productive training day. This was on top of making peach/blackberry jam on Friday and painting our siding yesterday. Today we painted the front door bright red. It all looks really good.

is painting your door red anything like hanging out a red light?

nice pre-meet work! I need to think and plan out my warm-ups a little more logically

Damn you and your fresh jam talk. Good lifting.

I’m not sure about the red light but I did have to fight the urge to paint the red door black.

I find meets pretty stressful so the less I have to do to warm up and simplify things, the smoother it is for me. It gets more complicated when you’re in gear too and you have to worry about all of that.
