I planned on staying out of the gym until Sunday but for some inexplicable reason I got a boost of energy over the last couple of days and headed over to the commercial gym tonight to fart around.
I wanted to have a bit of fun and went with no plan. I’ve been very good about following my template leading up to the past few meets. Now, I have no meets planned until either the fall or January.
I took my power pants and mostly just squatted. I wanted to get a base line for planning. It looked like this with the pants, belt and knee sleeves:
It felt odd squatting in front of a mirror for the first time in months. Also, the pants ripped the crap out of my hips. They may not have a ton of carryover but they sure peel the skin off.
I’ve been thinking about the best way to get my squat numbers up. My deadlift has really improved but squat hasn’t done much. I think part of it is fear. Last summer, I spent a lot of time training heavy, straps down and it made me stronger. I think that’s the best my squat has been. Unfortunately, I was doing it 2-3 times a week and it beat the crap out of my body.
My plan for now is to continue squatting heavy once/week cycling: week one: power pants. Week two: suit on, straps down. Week three: suit on straps up. Start again in the pants like a deload type of week.
A little late, but nice performance at the meet. I wish I could have seen it. Gear or no gear, a 140 kg squat from a 58kg something is astounding. You continue to be one of my inspirations to keep working hard.

Thanks that’s really nice to hear. You never really know who is watching do you? There are a few people that have been my inspiration and they were surprised to learn they were.
This was part of a picture my youngest daughter did of our family. All the girls are giraffes and my boyfriend is a power lifting penguin.
It reminded me of one of your previous thread titles
That’s kind of what inspired the title. I’m tallish and slim. I don’t really look like a stereotypical powerlifter. My boyfriend is shorter, wider and much more muscular. Together we look like a giraffe and a penguin.

Good lifting. Check your thread all the time. I’m consatntly amazed at the weights you’re moving. PS, might want to throw in some neck work.
I’m always necking but that may not be what you had in mind. I’ve never thought about neck exercises. What would you suggest?

Yesterday we went strawberry picking and picked 12 pints. Between today and yesterday I made over 20 jars of jam. This is my annual jam making experiment during which I’m super Amish. I made strawberry jam with jalapenos and scotch bonnet peppers. It turned out really well. We also made strawberry with vanilla beans and one batch with mint leaves and lemon peel. I love doing stuff like that. The jam took over 7 lbs of sugar.
