You will still be obese at 240#.

Maybe, but letā€™s not crap on him trying to lose the first 55 pounds. Thatā€™ll get him out of the danger zone at least. Maybe heā€™ll get there and decide to drop 10 more. Or maybe heā€™s packed with muscle and 240 looks good on him (probably not, but Iā€™m in a positive mood today.) :grinning:

I wouldnā€™t even worry about a goal weight right now. If you donā€™t know my story, many moons ago I lost somewhere around 60-70 pounds (I was too scared of seeing the scale number at my fattest so Iā€™ve always had to estimate). I did it, and it was a daily struggle. Made me totally understand the ā€œone day at a timeā€ mantra of people struggling with substance abuse.

Your main thought should be to follow the plan for one day, then another day, then another. Let it happen, because it will. No putting the cart before the horse.

Fat loss goals are an every-hour-of-the-day thing, dozens of decisions, little victories, little setbacks, then more little victories. It can be consuming, and it should be for those who are very overweight, because weā€™re talking life and death, not just abs and pec definition.

Focusing on the day youā€™re in right now will seem tedious and slow at times. But then, one day, maybe just two or three months from now, someone you havenā€™t seen in a while will say, ā€œDude, youā€™ve lost a ton of weight!ā€ And it will surprise you, because youā€™ve been focusing on the daily goals and challenges.

People will think it was fast and easy for you 6 months from now, and 6 months goes by fastā€¦ to them. But that success came from making dozens of better decisions every day, dozens of times when you had to fight a craving, choose a better food, resist a temptation, figure out the calories in a meal, or take that extra two-mile walk when youā€™d rather be doing something else.

Itā€™s all worth it. And weā€™re here to help.

Thats awesome manā€¦I canā€™t even walk up some stair without getting out of breath and I hate it. I am going to follow what you said. This is very inspirational. Thank you for the great advise.

Iā€™m a big believer in an animal based diet consisting mostly of red meat (ground beef) fruit, honey and dairy. I eat what probably is a lot of fat to most people. Some days I eat a much as 200g of protein and 144g of fat and then carbs around 150-180g. I feel great and itā€™s delicious compared to trying to eat chicken breasts and broccoli.

Very similar sentiment from my end, absent pretty much any carbs, plus more fat. But, in turn, Iā€™m aware that some of my health markers are most likely not what some would endeavor for as far as ā€œhealthyā€ goes. Which is why I say itā€™s important to know WHAT we are going to track to evaluate health.

Cool manā€¦thanks!

Right. I disagree with saying a high LDL, as a standalone marker, puts someone at risk of x y and z. But that seems to be the focus and they say ā€œeat less red meat!ā€ I say no!

Plus red meat has so many more nutrients than stuff like chicken breasts. Heck chickens are fed mostly corn and soy.

Consuming 2-3 pounds of ground beef per day is generally not considered healthy. It can lead to an excessive intake of saturated fat, cholesterol and calories, which increases the risk of heart disease, obesity and other health problems. It is important to follow a balanced diet details on such diets can be found at Blazzio

Pretty everything you said (copied and pasted) is wrong. But letā€™s have fun and focus on one thing: ā€œobesity.ā€

If an obese person eats 3 pounds of ground beef a day and nothing else, totalling 2386 calories for 90% lean, that person would lose fat rapidly and all of their health markers would improve because they wouldnā€™t be obese for long.

I donā€™t recommend it, but itā€™s something to think about.

The main health marker an obese person needs to worry about is being obese. We can tweak the details and worry about the rest later.

Oh, this is fun. @Andrewgen_Receptors called it. I just typed the question into ChatGPT:

Are the robots taking over already, or was this your attempt at seeming smart?

I pay for the premium and use it for stuff frequently. I can spot that shit a mile away.

If youā€™re going to use a canned answer from ChatGPT, at least give it some flare. Tell it to only give you answers worded the way Earnest Hemmingway or Count Chocula would write it.
