šŸ”„ Post Your Hot Takes... Even the Oddly Specific Ones

Depends on the genre.

Mastodon
Gojira
Ghost
Rap took a horrible downturn
Hank III

Speaking of music, I think lyrics ruin most songs, especially if they’re about love.

So much desperation and lack of basic logic

Not at all. The most important albums, the most influential albums will often transcend genres.

Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band
Highway 61 Revisited
Dark Side of the Moon
Black Sabbath

I know that Mastodon and Gojira are very influential to other bands in that same scene, but I am talking about the music industry as a WHOLE.

Even though I don’t like them, Metallica?

Depeche Mode.

Here’s my hot take, Thriller won’t/doesn’t have the lasting impact of most Beatles albums. Thriller sounds worse with time.

I think all you need is love.

Has gone the way of the dodo. Record companies are run by bean counters and ā€œartistsā€ who refer to themselves as a brand.

Sure, Metallica are influential. Similar to my Nirvana argument though, there were other big bands (Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax) carrying a similar torch.

I would definitely consider Depeche Mode ā€œSpeak and Sellā€ up there, but it was released more than 40 years ago. I would also probably consider Kraftwerks ā€œAutobahnā€ just ahead of it.

I concur.

Love isn’t about logic.

I  Jshaving

I believe those three bands are superior to Metallica but they owe some of their success to Metallica’s popularity.

Pretty sure some of my hot takes are going to get me cancelled, which makes them paradoxically tempting to post.

I think I just read along for now lol

I bet most people can’t think of half of the Beatles’ albums. Even my grandma, who was a teenager in the 60s, probably can’t. Even though Thriller is now over forty years old, even my younger brothers (teenagers) know Thriller, Beat It, and Billie Jean. Maybe it’s not on the level as the Beatles BEST music, but it’s definitely going to continue to stick around. Michael, like R Kelly, abused children but unlike with R Kelly, no one’s boycotting MJ, because of how great he was.

And

Sounds like they nailed it. :+1:

I don’t know if there’s a single roundabout in my state. I seriously am pretty sure there isn’t. I bet half the adults I know have only encountered one once or twice.

100%, that happens a lot. Even The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, and The Who had the way paved for them with The Beatles success. ā€œThe British Invasionā€.

It is gay for a man to lose his virginity to a woman. Men are all about winning, not losing! Losing to a woman is an insult to masculinity!

That’s why it’s better to dominate a man from the back door.

Now you can share Andrew, I doubt you’ll type something as cancellable/retarded as this.

This is the most cancellable thing you said.

EDIT: My professor, demonstrating taboo behaviors in today’s society, said retard like 5 times in class today. It was funny, but you know if you get the right (wrong?) person in class, they’re doing their best to get someone fired over that.

Love Depeche Mode

They can transcend but not always. But I digress. Could talk music for days

Black metal to Mozart to Madonna
