Anyone else feel this way after working out sometimes?
I put depression in quotes because IMHO, most people regard depression as a miserable and maybe suicidal state of mind, which I do NOT feel.
I do however feel like just laying down and doing nothing, almost completely exhausted. It was legs day for me today, and i usually feel this way after legs day and Chest day. Sometimes back too.
I used to feel sort of like this after deadlifting and again when I did hard circuit training without peri-workout nutrition. I do back extensions now, dont deadlift and get excellent PWO nutrition. Problem solved

Any ideas of the casues?

whenever I feel this way, its a good indication I need to take a couple days off. I usually feel exhausted, but awake and ready to go after a hard workout, but if I feel lethargic and like shit after a workout, then I know I need to let my body rest.

Poor pre-workout nutrition? I often feel light-headed, nauseous, and exhausted after a final balls-to-the-wall set, but it only lasts for a couple minutes. If you’re depleting your blood-sugar levels to the point of lethargy, I would suggest more quick carbs pre-workout.
Just read your training log and read that you’re dieting down. Sounds like your activity level is outrunning your energy supply. You could try adding a small amount of maltodextrin in your pre- shake and increasing it just until the lethargic feeling goes away. If your strength levels are dropping, I would definitely try this.
If your strength and mass are sticking around pretty well, I would just say congrats on the hard work. Accept it as a part of cutting.
Eh i totally know how you feel man. Today was actually legs day for me aswell. Coming home you just feel wrecked, but after a hot shower and a big ole plate of food, i feel just dandy. If had to take a guess, id probably just go with nutrition as an answer. Maybe you’re just completely drained. I eat pre workout, i take Surge during workout, and i have a post, yet driving home i still feel like im running on empty. IMHO, thats just an indication of a well played gym day lol.

…I just pound my PWO meal and move on with my fucking life
While I used to get that feeling a lot, and always just attributed it to a good session, the more I learned about proper rest and nutrition, the less frequently it occured. Still, there are those days when physically you don’t want to train (stresses of work, social life, lack of sleep etc), but you know that you have to (contest, or will be going away for a few days later in the week), so you’re essentially running more on mental energy than physical. Those are usually the days that I find myself dragging ass a bit, and no ammount of cns activation, or pre-workout carbs or Spike is gonna help avoid that -lol.

This.
Plus sleep patterns.
This probably the most underrated thing. If i dont get at least 7-8 hours sleep before i workout i tend to die. The shower and a shit load of food works BUT if i havent had the sleep i need an hour during the afternoon then im alive as a bumblebee. Seriously assess your sleeping patterns and any strenuous activities youve had recently that makes you stressed.
If I have a post-workout shake then I feel pretty raring to go and do it all again - even though there is no way I could. If I don’t have a shake after workout - and instead do before + during, then yeah I usually feel like that, particularly on legs + back day. As soon as I get a meal/shake in me after working out I’m dandy.
Have your tried power-napping? Take a fifteen to twenty-five minute nap before you train…
I have personally found that even a power-nap as short as ten minutes has completely done away with that post-training fatigue, lethargy, and negativity you are speaking of. Nutrition is important too but in my case a quick nap was all that was required…
Astronauts, professional cyclists, and especially olympic swimmers have used it successfully for decades now… and that is on top of a highly regulated and disciplined sleep schedule of 7-10 hours of sleep. Decreased depression, negative thinking, and reduced exhaustion after streanous activitites has been a clear result of power-napping.
We use power-naps quite a bit in my line of work when out in the field when pulling long duty hours; recharges the batteries, helps maintain focus, increases situational awareness, and seems to ward off homesickness and unwanted mood swings.
this used to happen me nearly everyday (except arms) i asked Christian about it and he said i should save one of my FINiBARS and eat it halfway through my workout, this helped alot.

When did these damn bars come out? I hadn’t heard of them till recently nor do I know anything about them but it seems like everyone is eating them now. I think my mom said “eating a FINiBAR!” on facebook, and like 10 people said they liked it. WTF?
