Post Work Out Starch

I was curious if anyone was using
Waxy Maize Starch in their post workout drink, and what they thought about it.

From what I’ve read it’s derived from natural corn starch and is a food grade modified starch.

The folks that tout it compare it to the mix of dextrose and maltodextrin for post workout nutrition for proper glycogen replenishment.

Supposedly, it has a much higher molecular weight and a much lower osmolarity rate compared to dextrose or maltodextrin, and bypasses the stomach, and is absorbed by the intestines and immediately is assimilated.

Anyone have experiences to share??

You would have been better doing a search. If you read through this long post, most of this stuff is answered by people. I am 874445435 in a past incarnation, if you want to know anything about what I wrote ask away.

I just read your responses in that thread. So you are saying that waxy maize starch IS in fact higher GI than a crapshoot malto?

Yes, but I don’t think its wise to use it long term for the reasons I stated. There are others, I can’t be arsed to write them out, they are lengthy. Stick with the maltodextrin/dextrose mix (with lots of water) is what seems to work for most people.

Thanks Doc! I tried the search, but for some reason “waxy maize” didn’t produce anything. Oh well. Thanks for the thread - from what I read, your studies have found that long term use can disrupt insulin sensitivity. I’ll stick with Dex/Malt mix
