What is it - how is it used?
A fast acting carb, supposedly absorbed quicker than other carbs and causes no stomach discomfort.
I think it makes post-workout nutrition too complicated. It’s only digested faster when taken alone. As soon as you mix it with a protein source, it’s no better than other fast-digesting carbs.
So, to be effective, you have down a shake of that, wait, what, 10 to 15 minutes, then have another shake with your protein and other goodies.
I don’t know about you, but after a hard workout, that’s too many steps. I want:
-
Pour
-
Shake
-
Slam
I take it with creatine mixed in. This is the first jug I’ve purchased and took. Honestly I don’t notice anything real amazing. It’s marketed as if you’ll feel a huge pump and you’ll actually see increased vascularity and the like, but eh…I dunno. I will say that I have noticed some strength increase since starting that with creatine, so perhaps it helps creatine absorption, but I’ve also started training with Mike Robertson. So it might be that.
i’ve also heard that you shouldn’t take waxy maize with protein, but i think taking it with BCAA’s is fine.
when i begin a carbload, i normally take waxy maize with as much BCAA powder as i can stomach along with creatine. about 20 minutes later i take whey protein.
its not very appetizing but i noticed that when i drink this, my stomach does not bloat like it does if i were to drink a normal carb drink like Surge/ accelerade. i think some people have bloat problems when they begin carb loading worse than others.
my muscles do however appear nice and full especially after a nice fullbody workout with the waxy maize.

Boy I hope you don’t work for NASA. Anyway, about 30 minutes before your workout is over take your 60 gram waxy maize shake then right after your finished training have your protein + another 30 grams of waxy maize mixed in. Very good stuff, far superior to both dextrose and malto and that’s from personal testimony not just what you read in the ads.

What differences do you note between it and dex and malto as far as recovery, performance, and body comp goes?
I can say that the bloating is much less with waxymaize…good point
I’ve never had a problem with bloating from malto/dex, but the waxy maize can be mixed with BCAA’s/creatine/etc. I think rule of thumb is to not go less than 75% waxy maize in the mixture. I could be wrong.
Thanks all - This comes in a powder I take it? Any favorite brands?
