Post Shoulder Surgery Progress

Well I’ve surfed this site for about a year now, but this is my first post. I’ve searched and read a lot of posts on this subject and came to the obvious conclusion that everyone and every surgery is different. Personally I had left shoulder surgery for a 2-3 mm tear in my left infraspinatus. The pain was not super bad pre surgery, but it was always there and no matter what I did rehab wise it wouldn’t go away, so I opted for surgery.

On December 18th I had the surgery. Apparently they went in and cleaned out some bone and scar tissue. I’m a little worried at this point because the pain is worse now than it was prior to the surgery. I just started PT on Jan 9th. After 6 weeks of PT I have a full range of motion, but have pain reaching across my body and pain in the AC joint area when I hit 90* when laterally raising my arm and then again when I get all the way over head.

The main thing that has me weary is PT. They have me do the same crap everyday and I don’t feel like I’ve made any progress in at least 2 weeks. It is a private practice and the PT’s have a lot of patients to tend to, so I show up and do my thing and then leave. It’s a workmans comp thing so it’s not like I can just go somewhere else.

They tell me not to worry about the pain unless I was 6 months out of surgery and still had it. When I see the doc he answers my questions very blunt and sends me on my way. I’m trying to do as much as I can on my own, but does anyone have a routine that has worked any wonders for them? Am I with in a normal recovery pace at this point? Any PT’s or doc’s out there with any advice?
