Post dual hamstring tear

37 at time of post. 12 weeks ago, I tore both hamstrings at rugby practice. Ignored the right leg pain (grade 2), but hit the dirt when the left gave out 10 minutes later
(grade 3 / 90% tear). After 6 weeks I had a re-tear of the left leg.
So here I am, 6 weeks after the 2nd tear and finally hitting the hamstrings to 3 RIR. doc recommends 16 week recovery before getting back to work. I’m going to wait until 90% strength and flexibility return.
While injured, I trained to maintain. 3-4 reps per muscle once per week.

Holy shit, man. Good Luck. I’ve torn hamstrings a handful of times, once completely detached from knee and butt. The muscle hasn’t been fully stretched back out, 17 years later. I spent 6-10ish months on crutches and can’t imagine having both torn.

10/4. 203.7lb at the gym. Muscle soreness low but present from previous workout. Trained with a friend, so I deviated from the typical routine. More back emphasis than normal. Lower reps hvr weight than normal. Form focused w/ slow eccentrics.

Damn complete tear!! How’d you do that? I’ve heard it happens to less than 5% and pain can reach throw up levels.

I was at HS baseball practice. We were practicing on turf on a very cold, somewhat icy day. The football coach didn’t allow metal spikes, and none of us brought turf shoes because we were supposed to lift weights and hit in indoor cages. Both were being used, so we took the field. I went for a backhand, while fielding a ball, picture below.

When my left heel made contact with turf, it slid while my weight tumbled over my leg. Typically, your heel would hit ground and knee would bend a bit to absorb weight shift. That detached it from my butt. While I was being carried off the ground, I had someone under each arm carrying me. A third person thought it would be wise to lift my not-injured leg so it would be easier to carry me. He grabbed the wrong leg and it ripped off my knee.

Jesus Christ!! That’s ridiculous… so much worse …. I was walking around 36 hours later. Bad limp… more like duck walking. The grade 2 was bearable, but probably made worse by the grade 3…. It Took about 10 days for the blood to really pool.
