Hi all, new to the forum. I just purchased some Low-Carb Grow! and Surge for the first time. My question is would it be ok or proper to have my Grow! with creatine mixed in about 30 minutes or so before I workout and then during my workout have one serving of Surge and after my workout have the second serving of Surge? Does this sound right or is there a better way? Thanks.
I’d have the Grow! ~45 minutes prior to the workout. And if it is your first meal of the day, you may want to add some extra carbs at that time.
As has been recommended here by many of the contributors, I’d use the creatine mixed with the Surge as your post-WO shake.
I would suggest using the Grow! 45 minutes to an hour prior to woking out. Also, I like to throw in a 1/2 cup of oats. This seems to give me the energy to get through my workouts. I guess it wouldn’t hurt to add a few grams of creatine. Surge with some creatine would be my suggestion for post workout.
For creatine to really be taken into the muscles maximally, it should be consumed with a high GI carbohydrate. You might as well save it for postworkout with Surge. If you are having carbs preworkout, you run the risk of your body burning the carbs for energy rather than bodyfat, but if your goal is simply performance and gaining size, then this may work for you.

I’d stick with the directions you can find on Berardi’s site and take 1/2 serving of Surge prior to your workout, and 1/2 serving immediately after.
So John Berardi reccomends 1/2 serving before and 1/2 serving after. Where can I find this information?
Really, I think taking Low-Carb Grow! has to happen more than 45 minutes before the workout. It can sit in your stomach and digest for hours. You don’t want that. I’d say a couple hours before the workout would be better.
And no, you’d be better off putting your creatine into your Surge. You want the creatine to be going into your system at the same time as all the other nutrients provided by the glycemic spike.
I would recommend having your Low-Carb Grow! 2 - 3 hours before your workout. Have your Surge right before the workout. Have another serving after, if you’re bulking.
Generally recommended advice is to put the creatine in the shake you drink after your workout, but you could experiment in putting it into the pre-workout Surge as well. There has been some evidence that it will help fuel the muscles during the workout. But it’s possible that won’t make a difference.
I sip on Surge throughout my workout, and then have another one afterward.

How much Surge? I weigh 240 and have been taking the 3 scoops during and 3 scoops about a half an hour after my workout. Is that good because it seems like a lot?

affirmative. if you are a big bastard trying to become a bigger bastard, you are on track. i doubt that anyone will tell you “No, that’s TOO much Surge.”
FWIW I am 225. i usually have some Grow! and/or muscle milk about 2 hours before. then i have 4 scoops over the 15 minutes before i start lifting, through lifting, and within 15 minutes after. then i eat something an hour later.
but you are more of a bastard than me, so the 6 will do. i mean you are a bigger bastard. ah, you get the point.

It’s not too much for me to handle drinking, I am just going through it so incredibly fast. I don’t mind that I’m going through it fast as long as it’s not going to waste.
