Portable Chin/Dip Station

not sure where this should go?
Just a heads up to anyone interested?
Bought this about a month ago, have been using pretty much every day both as a fixed unit and as portable unit weighs about 13 kg and has taken quite a hammering.it really is light, my son is one and a half and when the tower is assembled he can push it around the room on his knees by gripping the bottom cross bar.

Goes up in about 5-10 mins. Made by hand by a small company in Lancashire England, has very high quality finish and attention to detail is also very high.
Anyone that travels alot for work like myself will know what its like to get a good workout with minimum fuss and equipment.
Since I bought this I got rid of my bodysolid dip bars and my goldsgym power tower.it can be used just at home if you wish pretty cool if you have limited space or live in a dorm.
You don??t need a door frame to use this or any other kind of support, just a small amount of space. I generally get sent to different cities around uk and stay in hotels so this really has become a mainstay of my routines, recently I went to luxumberg to visit my cousin and was able to take this as hand lugauge.

p.s I don??t work for the company or have any shares in it, just thought you guys would like to know about this unless you have already seen it :), especially those of you that are on the move or are personnel trainers that visit clients.
If you want more details the links is below, maybe T-Nation could do a review of it?

How much do you weigh? On looks alone I think my fat ass would fold that thing up like a lawn chair on the first attempt.

HA!

I got the same feeling. Does it have a weight limit?

Having a dip apparatus fail on me while performing weighted dips is something I hope to avoid in life.

sorry for late reply, been away no access to internet.
i only weigh about 13 stone, but max limit on this is 17 stone, my brother is 22 stone and has used it without any problems, the only problem i did have with this was that i am used to using dip bars with thicker handles, i got around this by sliding a thicker tube over the dip handles and added some bicycle handle bar tape,

i did add link to site but not properly, so here it is again…

i will a couple more pics

portable

Neat, but expensive.

half way, use like this for inverted rows, press ups feet elevated across bar

Nikiforos,
yes i thought that initially, but after visiting their workshop and seeing the detail and standard its made to i thought it was worth the money.
dips/chins are amajor part of my routines, so to me it makes sense to buy it
theres no way i was able to take my golds power tower any where or even my bodysolid dip bars, i sold those to cover cost of this so did not feel the cost bad enough not to buy it

analog_kid,
hi there, the bottom bar, and lower uprights are made from steel, and the topbar feet and dip handles are made from aluminum, but i dont know what its actual max weight is, i think the guy that designed/made this (pictured on hotgym site) initially made it for his own use and weight 17 stone is just a safe working load.as i said my brother is 22 stone and used it without any problems

How does it feel when you are using it for Dips and Chins, is it sturdy or a bit shaky?

Mr. Intensity
its pretty sturdy, as long as your form is good, if you swing too much during chins it will rock slightly but nothing major.
it also depends on the floor surface, if you using it on concrete or another type of flat surface its cool, but on thick carpet especially deep pile it will feel a bit weird,

its a nice piece of kit well made, maybe it wont suit every one, especially huge big guys, that have barn door backs and shoulders like boulders due to its width, but for general fitness and people that use body weight it is pretty cool, i weigh in at 13 stone and use a dipping belt with about 15 to 20 kg and its fine

£169 lol. I’d rather buy one that has the definate ability to hold more weight, and is flat pack. Actually do dip/chin stations come able to be unassembled?

Does it matter how fast you do your reps on it?

Is there any other good dip/chin stations that are not too big?

steel is an amazing thing:)

i dont think the speed of reps matters as long as you dont swing so much,

as for other stuff on the market i used have the power trainer bar from ChinUps.co.uk.
i did have gym rings so used to attach them and do dips, although the power trainer did not fit every door i tried to use it on, or the ceilings were too low or the door frame was too narrow. just before i sold my power trainer i did use it in a hotel in tunis tunisia, i fastened it to the onsuite door frame not relising the wall was a partion, as i got to my tenth rep the partion gave way and the trainer punched two holes through the wall, i filled the holes with humas, dried it with my wifes hair drier and painted it with tipex, i told staff i wanted a room with a better view so they changed my room.
my wife was not impressed at all.

i also had the body solid dipping bars and the golds power tower, they can be taken apart but not exactly portable.

i am beginning to sound like i own the company, for anyone that missed it the site is www.hotgym.co.uk/
enjoy
