I hate they made him change the name of the album. I see exactly what he was trying to get across.

I can see why they made him change the name of the album though… I think the media would blow it up, especially the “sly fox”

On a slightly different note. Did anybody know that he got nearly 630,000 signatures on his fox news petition? That’s ridiculous.

Did anybody see his interview on colbert?

I didn’t even know he was interviewed. If anyone can find that posted somewhere, let me know.

Fucking brilliant.

“…If someone could knock off Osama…uhp, well, Obama…well, both if you could”.

It is amazing what does NOT cause a shit storm on that network.

lol, “ill give my 2 cents which used to be a dollar.” Cobert is the man. “If this is a non-smoking building then why am I here?”

+1. I thought Hip-Hop Is Dead was better than a lot of other people, but his new ‘untitled’ album is a really, really progressive and intelligent cd. The content is as political and motive-driven as his newer shit, but it brings back a lot of good beat styles from some of his earlier days.

you sound like a grandma trying to compare current music to shit from the 40’s

That’s the best you can do?

WEAK.

For the record, that Nas song he compared it to is from the new album just released this month…you know, the 1940’s.

i wasnt saying nas was from the 40s smart guy, i was comparing him to these old people who say "oh this isnt music listen to -insert broadway musical performer- ,now thats music.

times change music evolves. how many of you baby-boomers listening to the Beatles had your parents liking them? like holy shit we get it, most people on this site dont like soulja boy. you really need to make a thread about it every week? yall keep letting this guy get under your skin so bad when all hes doing is making party music. dont be such a grumpy gus.

I’m not a Baby Boomer and I doubt most of the people in this thread are either. Generation Y is described as late 70’s to early 80’s. That is where I fall in if you are interested.

That song sucks. It has shit to do with age unless being under the age of 25 is all it takes to find that bullshit appealing.

If that is the case, I thank GOD I grew up in the 80’s.

That song shows a complete lack of talent. The lyrics suck and the music sounds like it was made on a 1985 Casio keyboard.

NO ONE is going to be playing “She’s got a Donk” 20 years from now unless it is a comedy skit about how much that song sucks.[/quote]

the hell? i never said YOU were a baby-boomer. read the damn thing again.
lack of talent but this guy is 16 years old and got more money than you. apparently hes doing something right. plus yall are on his dick so much you make a thread about him every week.

youre right no one will be playing this song 20 years from now because people will probaly be listening to some other type of music then, its what you dont understand; that this is just a time where people want to let loose and party. he caters to that market and you just hate on it.

Hey moron, weren’t you just saying on your other thread how you didn’t start shit. Those songs do not sound alike. And stop insulting people on this forum.

Soulja Boy does lack talent, that’s not hip hop, that’s a guy having 10 words dubbed into a video over and over again. I watched one of his live performances, all he did was yell into the mic, while a cd played half the song in the background. Go youtube him, his performances suck.

I’d enjoy a live performance more where a guy actually sang rather then just dance like a monkey the whole time.

He might have a lot of money for a teenager, but that’s about it. His record sales were awful and and tour revenue was below average. He’s relying an awful lot on 99 cent downloads and ring tones.

well it seems to be working. and btw is having a lot of money the whole point?

you said you dont evne listen to hip-hop, be dismissed.

I had some respect for Nas’skills at least until he pulled that stunt. Of course where will Nas be with this - YouTube and will he protest MSLSD? probably not?

Notice no one corrected Rather including Tiki. Maybe Nas should rap about Tiki.

Tiki Tiki you will be criticized on wiki
You rather sit and listen to Rather slip, like DMC, it’s tricky.

Best rappers nowadays are underground. Most of what I listen to is Immortal Technique or Jedi Mind Tricks. Other than that those that can spit a story and drop a beat to match are few and far between anymore.

I’m surprised he ONLY managed to get 620,127 signatures. I follow politics closer than anyone I know and didn’t even here about that petition, my white ass would sign it in a heartbeat.

He should have done it by internet and made it more public. I haven’t followed this at all so maybe he did.

But the point is that he DOESN’T have a lot of money. Not for being an entertainer.

I don’t have LAX, but I’ve heard a couple songs from it… good shit.

honestly…

alright, hes probaly got more money than any of us…by a long shot. he does his own production, he didnt even have to do anything to get discovered. hes more of a household name than anyone mentioned in this thread who lives up to these completely opinionated standards of hip-hop which everyone against thinks he has to fit. id say the kids doing pretty damn good.

The only thing here that I really disagree with is you saying he’s more of a household name than anyone on this thread. Nas is a far bigger name. Soulja Boy is mostly known by by high school kids. Nas was recording before most high school kids were born. Nas is known by young and old.

There’s no denying Soulja Boy’s popularity. And I give him credit putting himself on the map, by himself…well, with the help of MySpace. But his production is horrible. He has no lyrics. He just a living, breathing ringtone. How can anyone possibly take him serious as an artist?

Just because there are enough idiots to buy anything ringtone rappers put out, it does not mean they have talent. It simply means that many people have bad taste.

You mentioned his “production”. This is no Kanye West and I DARE YOU to compare this fool to an artist that is considered one of the best.

Is he as good or better than Jay-Z?

Tupac?

B.I.G.?

Nas?

Eminem?

Where in those names does this “genius” fit in? I am truly interested.
