Vasiliy Alekseyev supposedly did some training in a lake or pool. This was mainly pressing a barbel out of the water (an explosive press?). I was never planning on doing this, but I did get to try some explosive jumps from 6 ft water depth or so. I’ve also tried some starts from the wall. I could see this carrying over to the vertical jump and possibly weightlifting as well. You can also do things like hand stand push pressed and such.
It’s low impact so it seems like something you can do more than say plyos on land.
Has anyone else tried pool conditioning or assists? The above isn’t so much conditioning as it is training indirectly explosive movements. I’d like to hear about both as I used to swim competitively when I was much younger.
