It’s getting to the point of the football season (Aussie Rules) where players in my are battered and bruised. Most of them are still sore on the Tuesday night session from the Saturday afternoon game.
Many players are doing their own recovery sessions on a Sunday but we are starting the mandatory 9am pool session on the Sunday.
Are there any members out there who know a few good recovery sessions that we could implement. Most of the soreness is in the legs.

Start playing Rugby (either form) instead of that AFL shit.
(just kidding)(sort of)
I like it. And I’ve got heaps of mates that play Union but I grew up on Aussie Rules so in the veins now.
I grew up in Canberra so I am a NRL fan (although I support the Knights). I always found AFL boring as hell to watch, but after spending 12 months living in Adelaide recently I can at least watch a game of AFL with out being so bored that I want to kill myself.

Get in the ice bath immediately after the game.
If you can’t do that, contrast showers are the next best thing.
Yeah, I was thinking of getting a kiddies inflatable pool, fill it up with water and ice. Sit in it for 30 seconds and then 2 minutes in the shows. Repeat a couple of times.
The active recovery on the Sunday is a must too I’d say.
No, you want to sit in the ice bath for 15-25 minutes depending on your weight. For maximum benefit, make sure the temp is between 55-58 degrees. I usually put the bath on full cold blast and add a big bag of ice. Works great for getting rid of soreness (make sure to cover your toes, though!!)
