Shopping was AWESOME
Yeah, I got an adorable pair of new rainboots. And at Target, I got these organizing shelves for my closet with an extra rod thing, so now I might have room for all my winter clothes I come back from fall break with. Maybe. That and I tore up the sale racks at American Eagle…I even bought a shirt in the men’s section! A couple of my guy friends were there with me and we all bought matching shirts and wore them to The Social Network. Incredible movie, btw. So many great one liners it was practically raining win in the theater.
Needless to say, I’m feeling much better!
Okay, training from Friday, and I promise tomorrow’s log will actually go up tomorrow…
I wanted to get in the rack first thing, but it turns out it was “everybody get in Sarah’s way” day
chest supported rows: empty x5, 10x5, 20x5, 30x5 30x5…these make me feel like such a wimp. Racks are still full.
incline BB bench: bar x5, 55x5, 65x5, 75x2, 65x5…something about benching really scares the shit out of me. I think I got pinned too many times working out by myself at home and now I have a mental block, cause I really dislike getting under the bar with just my puny arms between me and imminent death…racks are still full. I’m getting cranky now.
seated L-laterals, 3x8, 15s…racks continue to be full, half of them with guys doing endless sets of half-range chins. I’m really cranky and glare jealously at the big guys having a successful squat workout.
standing calf raises, 3x8, 110…I was going to do seated, but somebody was on that one and was obviously planning to do about five bajillion sets. Grrrraaaawwwwrrrr.
then, hoorah, there’s a rack open, right next to the boss ![]()
front squats: barx5, 65x5, then 95x5 for three sets…I had not done these for a long time. They made my back beg for mercy. Mayhaps I should continue to do them to strengthen that upright posture!
Welcome Miss Plucky. Good to see a new face. Looking forward to reading the rest of this one, as I’ll be a 32 y/o freshman when I get out of the military. To answer your questions:
Fave Lift: Deadlift
Fave Supp: Monster Milk & OxyElite Pro
Fave Witty Saying: The will to be stupid is a very powerful force, but there are always alternatives.
Fave Workout Song: Split between Apocalyptica’s “Beautiful” and Slipknot’s “People=Shit”. I’m not angry or anything, though…
And Green Tea for the win!
Welcome Beast!
Today’s numbers, as promised!
deadlifts: 135, 5x5 yeah I got the last set easily!! progress!!
assisted pullups: 52.5 x5 for two sets, then 61 x5 for three. I’m getting there, slowly but surely.
db OHP: 30s x5 for three sets =D then 25s for two sets
glute kickback machine: 2x12, 110–feelin the booty burn, woot woot!!
seated calf raises: 2x12, 50 lbs
My favorite suitemate went with me to the gym tonight. She and I get along swimmingly and we’ll probably room together next year. She says I’m her inspiration to go to the gym and be fit
Hope she stays motivated! She’s got a decent basis of knowledge of muscles, and she likes pilattes and machines…not the best, but she enjoys it, which is half the battle. If she keeps coming I’ll be able to teach her some new stuff
Great progress with the pullups, any progress there is amazing in my opinion! As for your friend, get her in there, remind her of her goals, and teach that chickie to lift real weights! I haven’t met a girl yet who doesn’t like deads or squats once they get a hang of it.
PS: LOVE your slippers!
I just stumbled upon your log this morning and read the whole thing. quite entertaining and you have been making great progress. i’ll definitely be checking in on you regularly.
Your entries always amuse me.
It’s always nice being an inspiration for someone. I hope she sticks with it.

Using big boy plates on deadlift! Atta girl, keep up the good work!
those sock monkey slippers are boss! love em.
just found this log; the name intrigued me. you’re making great progress and your writing style amuses me so i’m sure i’ll pop in from time to time.
so, questions then i suppose:
favorite lift: deads
favorite supp: steak
favorite witty expression: i’m not smart enough to be witty. self-depreciating yes, but witty, no.
favorite lifting song: probably either “ravenous” by arch enemy, or “slave no more” by crowbar
Thanks Odyssey! They make me really happy ![]()
Hi there Alpha! Glad you like the looks of things around here!
Nikki, bring me some yogurt and this log will be a REAL party
Yeah Dixie, those big boy plates make me feel so grown up =D
Deja, I almost exploded with excitement when I saw them in the store…they took me by complete surprise…
Welcome, Wolf! Glad I can be amusing. I like steak muchly as well.
Golly, deadlifts are winning this discussion by a landslide. I feel like I need more representation from the squatting demographic…
And today. Threw on my baggiest, grungiest, tornuppest workout shirt and promptly ran into the cute guy from my econ class. Win.
barbell reverse lunges: 95, 5x5
romanian dl: 120, 3x8 huuuuurrrgh!!
chest supported row: empty for all 5 sets, focused on explosivity and squeezing those blades at the top of the motion.
standing calf raises, 3x8, 110
L-lateral raises, 20s, 5x5
I had planned to do incline bench as well, but Beevis and Butthead the Benching Bros were simultaneously hogging that bench and the decline bench for the entirety of my workout…I decided I’d rather go study for my politics midterm than fire up that confrontation. Those asswipes think they own the whole bloody gym…
SO I’ve been invited to my first ever frat party tonight. I know, it’s a Tuesday, but everybody’s going home for Fall Break tomorrow anyway. HHHMMMMMMM…
you must go. and come back with a story that fits ur log’s title.

Eh, why not? I’m cutting them out of my diet and I still have a coupon for a free yogurt.
Consider yourself treated to some yogurt.

Damn, good workout again.
I say you deserve a frat party.
Yeah, I’m gonna go and see how many frat boys I can scare the crap out of. You know, for science and posterity.
