I read Atlas Shrugged before you were born.
I loved Ayn Rand at your age. Trust me. You’ll outgrow her.

what makes you think you should push as much as you can pull?
you have more, and bigger, muscles in your back than you do your chest.
also, there may or may not be “better” philosophers out there, but atlas shrugged will always hold a special place in my heart and thought process and got me interested in seeing other things.
so, better? dunno if anyone else couldve done that.
i-banker = investment banker.
My stand on Ayn Rand: I kind of like her, but I don’t super-duper like her. Yay freedom, of course, but don’t get stuck in a rut and quit reading other books.
On pulling and pushing: I row less than I bench. But maybe it’s because I worry about form with rowing so I’m a little paranoid about cheating.
Haha I like how I kicked off a philosophical debate. For the Record, I read a lot of books, and Rand is the only person so far who’s gotten me to read 1400+ pages of fine print more than once.
I took a philosophy class last year through another university to fill in my eighth credit for the year (cause my school decided to be a bitch and not let me into any more AP classes) and most of the stuff we read made me want to either cry with boredom or go back in time to punch the author in the face for being so trivial. I guess that’s the curse of being a woman of action.
Alright you well informed peeps, gimme a new reading list!
Okay moving on.
Didn’t train on Friday, cause on Thursday my lower back did something funny (think cruuunnch…zoinks!) and since my family has an epic history in lower back crap, I decided that wasn’t gonna fly.
My parents came down to visit me yesterday ![]()
Mom packed up two heaping clothes baskets full of stuff to bring me (including more protein-yay!) and then we went to the mall and to Target. I found jeans at American Eagle for 19.95 and Victoria’s Secret was having a sale, complete with a free undies giveaway. SCORE!!!
I left Target with hair dye, orthotics, and vitamins. I’m such and old lady.
Caudle-how were the pancakes? Next time Wally sleeps in I’ll eat his with you. As for pure maple syrup, the carb count doesn’t matter cause you’re getting your 300% daily value of AWESOME.
Sooo, I didn’t get out of bed until 2:15 pm today. I didn’t even stay up late last night! I don’t understand my body sometimes…
For Big Damn Novels, read everything by Neal Stephenson.
For old-fashioned philosophy, try Reid, ( Thomas Reid - Wikipedia ), Locke, Hume, Smith… the usual suspects. The nice thing is that a lot of it is in the public domain – I like the Theory of Moral Sentiments. ( The Theory of Moral Sentiments - Econlib )
For underwear, get Victoria’s Secret “Pink” collection. I have a hot-pink push-up bra and thong from them, and it’s given me so much happiness.
Matching sets are the best, aren’t they? They can really make a lady feel put together…even if she happens to be wearing sweats.
Thanks for the links!
THUS SPOKE ZARATHUSTRA
THE GENEALOGY OF MORALS
Nietzsche
THE REBEL
Camus
Just some philosophy for fun, as for fiction reading just for sheer awesome, check out George R. R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” series, first book is titled “A Game of Thrones.” Without a doubt some of the best fantasy fiction I have ever read.
^^^ Ahh, an existential in our midsts.
More protein and Vic’s Secret… perfect day ![]()
Hope your back feels better ![]()

yup, existentialist here
Wassup ladies and gents, just left the gym, got a few minutes before my next class.
It’s cloudy and rainy today, which is radically different from any weather we’ve seen here so far, and it has me feeling droopy-more like curling up in an armchair and reading a book than rippin iron.
So, I went and ripped iron anyway. I mixed things up today to, I dunno, amp myself up a little, but stayed within my original push/pull schema:
barbell bench: bar x10, +10 x7, +20 x6, +30 x3, +20 x5, +10 x7, bar x10
^^some nice middle-aged guy offered to spot me. I politely declined, but it’s nice to know there’s somebody to help me out.
chest supported rows: 25 x5, 20 x5, 15 x5, 10 x5, empty x5
^^damn that machine itself is really heavy and awkward–def a movement that’ll take time to adjust to. I like it.
SQUATSSS: a couple with the bar…then +50 x5, +50 x5, +70 x5, +70 x5, +80 x5, +50 x5
GAWD I love squats. I had to force myself to stop cause my lower back was tuckered out.
Okay, so maybe I should figure out a different way to record my weights. Do I factor in the weight of the bar?
I know, I’m such a noob. I had to ask the cute guy in the rack next to me how to move the shelfy things. He was squatting too. A loooot more than I. It was hott.
I’m so excited to be working with the bar again. The people in the freeweights section are annoying.
dixie’s finest listed some good books up there

Yes, factor in that weight too. Point is, if you lift it, count it ![]()
Nice squatting Darling!
Yeah, I didn’t know if I had to count the bar at first either. Then recently, I didn’t know that the bar was 45 lbs, I guessed that it was 25#. Needless to say when I was benching, I added some weights thinking that it was 75 #, which I knew I can handle; come to find out it was 95#, a weight that I never did before and I didn’t even have a spotter ![]()
I could have died haha
Hmm, a cute guy squatting you say? <3
I had to ask someone how to operate the damn Smith Machine so I can do inverted rows. It’s not noobish, just part of the journey.
damn right you count the bar. it won’t lift itself ![]()
lucky duck on sexy squat guy. I’m still waiting for the day.
If you want to be really bored, read traditional philosophers like Hume, Kant, Nietzsche. If you don’t, well, don’t.
To compare like to like in terms of push/pull, compare chest-supported rows to barbell bench. The bench press is “back supported,” if you will ;). I wouldn’t be too concerned about pulling more than you push. Not many people have postural problems from too much external rotation…

Nietzsche is boring traditional philosopher?
I question if you have ever read him lol

Thats hot.
Great work plucky, Ms.
He said some off the wall things and changed his mind a lot. Still a dry read, like most philosophers one suffers through in 101. Honestly, I find the whole concept of learning “philosophy” by reading the dense works of dead people rather hypocritical. To each his own. Game Of Thrones, however, has been on my to-read list for a while.
