It was a crap weekend.
My appetite has been in the tanks since the end of last week…probably because I’ve had bad reactions to dining hall food twice in the last four days. Hence my missingness. I really wanted to post, but looking at a computer screen made the quesiness worse. Anyone ever experienced that?
I’ll just give highlights/maxes from the last few days…
deadlifted 155
incline benched 70
overhead pressed 75
lat pulled 120
Today I was feeling especially doubtful of my squat-depth legitimacy, so I went back tonight to do a little test…I found a boxish thing that hits me around mid-calf. Dragged to squat rack. Squatted to boxish thing with super anal form. Worked up to 135. Aweshuum.
I’m feeling better about that situation now. At least I’m getting below parallel, which sucks anyway cause I have shortish shins and long femurs. I think I’ll start stacking 45s and work my way down to ATG. Actually, I should probably video myself from the side and see how things look from there, because I can only see myself from the front.
I have a sweet ache in my glute/ham tie in area. SCORE!
Can’t wait for rack pulls tomorrow.

taping your vids has allowed for some amazing progress for many of us. It may be ego-crushing at first but the strongest move beyond the blow and start learning. And I say that from experience.
I can’t stand focusing my eyes on a screen/book when I have a cold/flu. gives me headaches and stuff.

I started thinking oh, to be young again, in school, then I read further about the little boys, and think, yep, been there, done that, I’m happy with my hubby, 2 kids (one whom is your age!) and dog and cat…ha, ha
Congrats on your sweet glute/ham ache :). Yeah, looking at your squats from the front can be misleading. A video/someone who knows what they are looking at goes a long ways.

There’s actually quite a few people around here that are “anti-mirror” when it comes to squatting. Looking at yourself in the mirror while you squat might distract you from how you’d normally perform it. At least I think that’s the reason.

bb step ups, to a bench I dragged out in front of the “open faced” racks-it’s several inches higher than what I was using before. Suddenly I understand why my previous numbers appeared ludicrous.

That ish was hard, mostly on my balance. If I tracked the bar too far forward, I hit a hitch about 3/4 of the way up where I couldn’t bring my hips up. If it tracked too far back, I wobbled and/or fell. Keeps me honest, at least.
I’m just gonna leave this with a cheezy but meaningful comment. I’m glad you hold yourself accountable, because nobody else will :).
Lol your previous numbers weren’t ludicrous.
I just do my BW on those, I prefer the high step to get my glutes more. But I don’t need to add a BB or resistance and die trying.
