Reagan didn’t have balls? Blasphemy!

This has been argued, and analyzed…and argued and analyzed …over and over again throughout the history of the Modern Presidency…and even on this site…so much so, that I just don’t have the energy.

Agreed. I’ll go with the economists on this one who also give him credit.(Not full credit but some credit none the less.)

No one said that.

Completely false. I don’t think there is anyone out there arguing that he didn’t put pressure on the Chinese.

Does Trump deserve all the credit? Hell no. BUT, you’re so anti Trump you refuse to give him even the slightest bit of credit to do what no president has done before him…

There’s ALWAYS a double standard. This isn’t new. It goes both ways as well.

Nick Foles was apparently the only one who was going to go. He didn’t cancel, they weren’t coming… Steph and the Warriors weren’t going.
I see blown opportunities by each team to not go to the white house and actually have a discussion with the President but they are more interested in virtue signaling than actually trying to discuss and solve an issue…

You hate him a lot ,lol.

There has been a double standard. There has been tribalism. But Obama was subjected to criticism that at times was subtly, and at times overtly, racist.

I know there has been. There always is…

I didn’t see any racist criticism from the media/politicians towards Obama. Care to provide some?

AH, what a difference in tone a President someone supports make…

WUH???

Someone PUBLICLY and in the office of President of the United States…calls you and your fellow players a bunch of Son of a Bitches…and you’re supposed to grin and smile at a photo-op with him…and give him a Team Jersey?

Um, yes…

Well to be fair, they didn’t kneel so that wouldn’t apply to them but ya, not the best move on his part. They weren’t going either way, though. Let’s be real.

Let’s see if they give Trump any names to pardon…

And you’re wrong again…

The emotions I feel when I think of Trump are not hate…they are anxiety, frustration…and exasperation when he gets a pass on things that would have had the Right burning down cities if President Obama had directed even a fraction of these types of comments and tweets to “the other side…”

Fair but you’re very Zebish(how he was with Obama) when it comes to Trump.

Welcome to politics. Hypocrisy is a norm. . ON BOTH SIDES.

…and on this point, we agree…!

Fox news bringing someone like Ted Nugent on to spew his barely literate rhetoric. Trump, before he was president, pushing the birther movement.

But on which side are the crazies? Is there a liberal version of Alex Jones?

I don’t watch Fox so you could be right but do you have a clip or anything?

Some of Hillary’s fan base started the birther movement. Trump went along with it. Hardly racist.

Ya, CNN, lol. I don’t know if you heard but Trump got two scoops of ice cream, while everyone else got one. Melania missing was great, too.

My Facebook feed is dominated by people from around Abilene, TX–buckle of the bible belt. I can assure you there are many, many delusional people on the right.

LOL!

Got it!

They have had Nugent on and Nugent called Obama a subhuman mongrel. This should be common knowledge.

What isn’t racist? The birther movement or Trump being a dope who followed along (or worse, a scumbag who used it to create division and take advantage of morons)? And did Hilary ever mention Obama’a birth certificate?

Yeah, that’s the equivalent of Jones calling Sandy Hook a hoax.

Common knowledge? Ok, sorry for not watching Fox? Ya, that’s racist. So you got one guy. Does anyone take Nugent seriously, though?

Birther movement. . I have no idea if Hillary ever mentioned it. Don’t really care.

Did he straight up call it a hoax or just said there are some questionable things they are telling us? I thought it was the latter but I could be wrong.

I think the real questions here are:

  1. Why are athletes ever invited to the White House?
  2. Why should any athlete care to go?

A lot like the national anthem issue: Why does it happen before every game? Why are people expected to do specific things while it is?

  1. Tradition? IDK. Use to be an honor to go to the white house and meet the president. I think it’s kind of cool.
  2. See 1. Plus, gives them a chance to discuss issues, one would assume.

Idk but they’ve been doing it since the 1960’s. Some people like to pay homage to our great country.

In today’s NFL, I wouldn’t say they are expected to do anything except stand there. Bud Grant use to line up all the Vikings players and make them stand perfectly still on the sideline with helmets in hand. No swaying or rocking back and forth. They use to actually practice it.
