I have been working out and running hard for the past four months and am curious for some feedback. Please let me know what you think:
You’re lean and you have muscle. Hard to give anything more notable for feedback that isn’t personalized to what my own desired look is, but i would add more muscle if i were you.
Run less, lift more IMO.
Not sure what you looked like when you started so there’s that. You look lean and fit.
What are your goals?
Keep at it. You have a good start, considering 4 months work.
Give us another update in 4 months. Remember “before and after” pics tell a story of rate of progress.
Your height and weight add to your story.
It is very helpful to include some strength stats.
One goal I would set for you is capability to do 20 pullups (all the way down and all the way up.) And 20 parallel bar dips.
You look fairly lean.
Not sure what look you’re going for, but I’d add some muscle if I were you. Lift heavy, eat more, run less.
When you take up working out, you need not worry about how long it will take to achieve an ideal look because what you took up should be something you will do for the rest of your life, not a temporary fad that some people do as a New Yer’s resolution, “I’m going to get in shape for the beach come summer,” that they will start skipping workouts “just this once,” again, and again till they no longer workout. They fancy that when they “get into shape” they will no longer have to workout, as though they will not become skinny and fat. Many give up after a few weeks because they want instant gratification. It does not appear that will happen to you.
If you want more motivation, visit Walmart and see all the men with colossal round bellies riding carts because they are too lazy to walk and observe all the commercial junk food in their baskets and you will never skip a workout for as long as you live.
Do you consider these exercises to be equal in difficulty? I ask, because the dips at 20 reps is pretty easy for me, the pullups, I can do it, but it isn’t easy. I am wondering if I am weak for pullups and or strong on dips?
I would consider myself pretty strong at both, and have the same experience as you (dips being much easier). I would say 20 pull ups is roughly equivalent to doing 40 dips, at least for me.
Those are simply an idea what strength I had before ever lifting any weight other than my body. I seemed to get to 20 reps on both at about the same time. I did more gymnastics than I did dips and pullups at that time.
I think this is about where I am as well. I was thinking how could I make them equal by adding weight to the dip, and I thought that dips with 50 lbs added would be similar to body weight pull ups.
Not a chance dude.
I can rep 90lbs for 12+ reps on dips
I’m doubtful I could do 1-2 pull ups with that much weight.
