Platform Deadlifting

What would be the benefits of deadlifting off a platform, thus lifting from the start off the ground. What mucles would be hit more?

Theres alot of variations for the DL.

Are you talking about standing on a platform and lifting or having the bar and weights elevated like on a box?

I have experiance with elevated deads, but not much, having the bar elevated a few inches or so allows you to go heavier.

I would assume lifting off of a platform would require more stability who knows, give em a shot and if they work for you good.

I meen(sp?) standing on a platform, so you much lift the weight a longer distance.

Your increasing the ROM you have to travel that much further how ever far said box is. This entails well a lot more work. What muscles depends on the form of DL. Like I often do SLDL’s from a 5" box adds a TON more glute and low back into the move.

if going conventional you’ll likely get more gluet and low back as well as more hip and quad due to bending the legs more toi reach the bar. all depends.

They help a ton in that way the increased ROM. when you go back to pulling from the floor you feel as though you are cheating by not having to pull taht extra distance.

This style of deadlifting is often called Deficit Deadlifting.

Start out easy! Elevating your feet as little as 2-3 inches/ 5-8 centimeters will kick your ass.

Some guys will load the bar with the smaller 35lbs or 25lbs plate…In America most “olympic” sets use plates of decreasing diameter. Swedes have better weight sets.

If you do deficit trap bar deadlifts it will really work your quads. And destroy your ego.

Same diameter weigth plates isn’t all that good, atleast not when you deadlift, hard to put the weights on and off.
But thanks for the info ppl.

I use 35 pounders only because the place I bought my set was out of 45 pounders. What I notice is much more quad involvement because I am bending at the knee more. The greater range of motion makes it a harder exercise and a reasonable substitute for squats.

I’ll try it out. Any suggestions for a good platform?
