Plateaued on Bench, Squat & DL

I have the privilege of being plateaued out on my bench, squat and DL all at once. I lift raw, and follow the Westside method fairly close.

On my squat and DL, I stall out two to five inches into the lift. I’ve started deadlifting standing on a plate or 3’ box. Too soon to see if it has helped. Would a ME ATG squat help here?

On my bench, I stall out with my biceps parallel to the ground, right where your triceps take over the lift. I do a lot of lockouts (starting at that position) as my secondary lift on ME bench days. I have added in a lockout from one notch lower on ME days, but it hasn’t really helped.

Any ideas?

You could try switching programs from Westside to Sheilko.

It may be a way to overcome a plateau with more volume less weight and three times a week.

Just a thought but take it with a grain of salt I am a complete newb.

If you’re lifting RAW, focusing on lockouts is a waste of time. While boards can help people with certain body structures and will help you get used to holding heavier weight, they shouldn’t form a big part of raw training. Your weakness is going to be at the point you stated no matter how much better you get at lockouts. Leave the constant top end training for shirted lifters.

As for ATG squatting helping you off the floor in the DL, there is only one way to find out if it works for you…

join the club dude. what has always helped for me when I get stuck before the tri’s take over is more shoulder work.

Congrats! Deload and try again? Increase calories? New training routine? I would pick something out of Rippetoe’s “practical programming for strength training.”

Drop the volume for a week and see if it helps. If it has been over 10-12 weeks of training, your body may need an active break to recover.

Don’t forget to make sure your food intake is high, sleep more, drink water like its going out of town, and learn to relax your mind outside training. Doing this will keep you progressing if you have everything in order!!!
