PL Training for Master's Nats

03/13/08 - Thursday

The student who was investigating me for I.A. barricaded himself in a classroom and the classroom teacher called for help. In spite of me thinking not to respond, I went because no one else could go. I was able to put my shoulder into the door several times enough to put the student on the floor with the last shove.

I restrained him as he was now abusive and me and another teacher ‘carried’ him into a “time-out” room. I felt OK & went on the bus taking my class to a rec center for gym. About 5 minutes into the trip, I knew something was wrong…sweaty, difficulty breathing, chest pain, nausea/throwing up for 15 minutes.

Bus driver took me to E.R…lots of tests & blood(ECG; CAT with dye, etc) - all negative for heart attack!!! I signed myself out 10 hours later as no one knew what was wrong with me and by that time I felt better.

saw my family physician on Friday afternoon…he thinks my G.E.R.D. may have caused the attack with similar symptoms to angina or heart attack. Going for endoscopy again soon to see what’s up. Because I always train on an empty stomach, i never get similar pain; Doc thinks when i have a meal in me and restrain a student, the physical effort is enough to give me GERD which feels like a heart attack. To be continued!

Wow, scary stuff. The kids must have been freaking out. We’re all glad you’re OK.

Damm Art. I remember when I was playing ball in the off season I was a sub teacher. I had everything from JH orchestra to HS choir. I threw a kid out in the hall for throwing an easer at me. You are a saint. Please take care of yourself, it’s a different world.

Hell, I’ve only got to put up with a dog or 2 and crabby customers on the job. Hope they get the medical stuff figured out soon.

Sorry to hear that bro!

I couldn’t do what you do QT, how ya been buddy?

It’s Sunday & I originally planned to do a light raw squat workout and do some DL’s - singles up to 500. My car threw the bolts holding my water pump pulley; so today instead of doing something I like; I will be getting greasy and cursing & be a miserable person to be around. God help anyone within shouting distance; my language will make a sailor sound like a saint! There is little or no room to get my hand in there, so this should be interesting to say the least; especially with short stubby fingers and thick hands!!!

My son, the mechanic, sleeps till past noon, so he’ll be no help for awhile. Should be an interesting day - Betty has plans for me, as well…at a conservative estimate, taking time for shitting, cursing, talking to myself, pissing and eating, I might finish them all just before it gets dark here. I pray it’s even just a little warm, as I will be outside most of the day. Hope all is well with the Gang!

O yes living that domestic life!Hang in there bro.

04/22/08 - Tuesday
Spent the afternoon drinking a gallon of Colyte in less than 2 hours while working out with my step-son. The workout was hard for me as it was exercises I don’t normally do & it was awkward & I was weak…the Colyte made me real uncomfortably full/bloated…then i spent the rest of the afternoon, evening, next morning shitting my insides out…to be continued…

04/23/08 - Wednesday
At 6:00am took my last dump of the 3 dozen or so I’d taken in the last 12 hours…my asshole is wrecked beyond belief, even for me! Rode over to the hospital and had an endoscopy and colonoscopy done at 7:30, was home by 9:30, violated downstairs and sore inner mouth from bite guide. End result - Colon clean as a whistle …NO POLYPS, BUT…Esophagus REAL BAD…lots of bleeding ulcers, scar tissue, and some tissue was biopsied for cancer…can’t wait for the results, LOL! back to taking Protonix now twice a day, instead of just mornings…follow-up appt. early May should be interesting to say the least…my GERD of the last 20 or so years seems to have gotten the best of my esophagus…we’ll see!
04/24/08 - Shits seem to be getting back to normalcy…want to do a good workout later to blow off some steam…to be continued

CPR is truly wonderful…revived this thread…Colon clean; esophagus shot to hell…can’t wait to hear what Doc has to say, but if a pic is worth a thousand words, then I probably don’t have a lot of time left…i have resigned myself to “dying happy” if that is the case…

I’m gonna keep lifting, sail a lot more with my kids, maybe buy another fast crotch rocket, travel around the states(esp Alaska). maybe I’m getting all geared up for nothing, but I don’t care the pics were real scarry looking even if it wasn’t cancerous.
Gonna still post my workouts on HT’s thread, but will leave the other stuff in my life for here. “That’s all folks!”

your outdoor facility is awesome-the tire and anvil, etc. How often do you work that into your routine? I just got a big tire and have 100 lb sandbag. Any outdoor workouts you seem to like best. thanks, eco

oh boy I didnt read your last couple of log ins before I sent the outdoor thing…sorry to read what you’re going through. Stay strong.

I try to do the tire flips, or anvil carry, or hitting the tire with the sledge, or chop wood at least once per week. The axe and the sledge cause my palms to bleed so that is why only 1x/week usually…takes 1 week for wounds to heal up enough to try process all over again. I try to drag the chain 2x/week, but lately bogged down with work, i haven’t done it in several weeks. My training log is on HT’s what the heck am i doing thread in Training Log section, in case you r interested. Thanks for visiting my thread and your words of encouragment.

Don’t worry QT, tough ole guys like us don’t go down that easily. But scares like that sure put things into prespective don’t they? Love your family like it’s your last day.

QT… just read this post from start to end. My heart and prayers are with you. Sounds like you have some good friends on this site.
Keep your head up… back straight and live your life bro’.

Let us know as soon as you find out something. Hopefully it will turn out to be nothing. Prayin for you bro.

Grandpa, ain’t time to punch the clock. Rock on and say hi to Betty and the girls from the Missouri Mule.

I hope it clears up, QT.

Some say the taking apple cider vinegar daily or eating raw garlic helps, but it doesn’t sound like something to experiment with.

My best hopes for your health go with you.

Tony

Red streaks are intestinal cells, not esophogeal

05/19/08 - Monday
Just came from the specialist’s office…my colon is fine except for some internal hemi’s which don’t bother me at all. That’s the good news…the bad news is that I have Barrett’s Esophagus, bleeding esophogeal ulcers, Hiatal Hernia, diverticulum, dysplasic cells, blah, blah, blah. I will have to have frequent endoscopies to monitor my healing, if any, from the new medication I’m on. The frequency is warranted because if things become cancerous, they want to be on top of it and not let it have a long period of time undiagnosed. The Barrett’s Esophagus is kinda weird, because where all the ulcerations that have occurred over the last 20 or so years, my body has replaced the esophogeal cells with cells that more closely resemble my intestines, it makes for a striking picture, believe me when I tell you!

I will try to scan and post for the not too squeemish. I have had GERD for probably close to 30 years…went undiagnosed until about 2002. Unfortunately, through my ignorance and naivety, it could have been diagnosed earlier if I had paid attention to the signs all along+ my fear of doctors. I screwed myself once again! Now on special medication 2x/day, modified(BLAND) diet which won’t last long for this stubborn ox. Not supposed to work out when stomach full, which is fine for me as I only work out on empty stomach because of the GERD from way back when. No restraining student at work, if I have eaten a meal beforehand. Next colonoscopy = 5 years. Next endoscopy = 8 weeks then 6 months later. So I guess I’m not gonna die from cancer just yet. I have made some new rules to live my life by, though. Will keep you posted.
