PL Training for Master's Nats

Barry,

That’s one thing you don’t get training alone in your garage, LOL! I do fantasize every so often when I look at my framed Ironmind poster of Shannon Hartnett. Keep up the good work; you seem like you are starting to make additional progress AND stay injury-free!

One of these days my brother we will lift some iron. I hope your girls are doing well. Work is taxing and the workouts are reflecting. Folks think you’re strong but you really know. Be positive.

My reality:
rack pull 7+ aint happenin
curl 170+ aint happenin
dl 510 aint happenin
did all these in last 6 months
good stuff

pullover 115 each side EZ curl bar
bench 335X1
zercher 315X1
bw chin 5
100 db swing X30
what normal folks think heavy who cares
machine stacks all but 2

Last weekend, I lost a true & loyal friend…my dog, Brin, a pit-retriever mix, ran through the woods after a deer, it crossed a major road & so did Brin hot on it’s heels…the deer made it across but Brin did not! She loved to run and I took her running with me in the woods all the time. Her all-time favorite thing in life was to chase deer, so I am happy that that’s how thing’s ended for her - doing something she likes and death was instant/no suffering.

We all miss her badly, BUT, my other pit, Sam, is still depressed and barely ventures out of the house except to piss & shit. He won’t go running with me/won’t go near the woods - I hope he is able to get over this soon as I am worried about his mental & physical health.

QT, really sorry to hear about your dog. I have had a non-stop love affair with my Great Danes, I’m on my fifth one now. Grew up loving labs and other breeds as well. I’ve found no remedy to the grief of a lost dog other than an appropriate amount of down time and then getting a new puppy. Doc

As if the dog wasn’t traumatized enough, our house was ROBBED AGAIN!!! I don’t get it…we don’t have anything of value left after the last robbery and now they clean out what little we had left.

I deal with violence and aggression all day long…now I am thinking that this reserved, laid-back, nothing bothers me kinda guy is going to have to blow off some steam…I hope I have a great DL workout because of it…read all about it on HT’s thread, LOL!

By the way, thanks Doc!

I’m sorry to hear all the bad news.Stay positive brother.Jimmy T

I have been bogged down with Home Study courses over the last 5 days to earn enough CEU’s to keep my NATA & NSCA Certifications current…needless to say, my workouts have suffered! 50+ hours of courses & 40 minutes of working out in last 5 days!

Art, we have to keep this thread going. I hope you had a great weekend.

Barry,

Cicero musta been a wise sorta fellow! Whenever you offer a quote, i read 'em several times to get the full meaning/full effect hoping that that was your intention. Your whole attitude & philosophy of life as shown by your choice of words on these threads has opened my eyes even wider in my search for new mental stimulation, new experiences, contact with new friends and casual acquaintances. I am quite awed with your presence & I just wanted you to know that; this thread has helped make me a better person & you’re on of the reasons!
Fondly,
Art

Art, three years ago I started to try and make Barry a better person. I hadn’t read a book in years, hadn’t picked up a weight in years. I started reading Deepak Chopra which lead to Wayne Dyer. This has resulted in chaqnge for the better. Your compliment has touched me very deeply.
Thanks
Barry

To: Any regular reader of this thread, or, anyone new,

HAPPY & HEALTHY THANKSGIVING ALL!!!

12/03/07 - Monday
Getting a stress echocardiogram this afternoon…restrained an unruly student last week and after struggling with him for 6-7 minutes, I felt a tightness in my chest, started sweating, & felt like my breathing was labored. One of the other security guards spelled me & a few minutes later I ‘felt’ better. In my mind, I thought it was best to make sure everything was OK with the ticker, even though I have no problems lifting, running, biking, & playing ball during Gym…better to be safe, than sorry!

Take care my brother, the girls and the rest of the family need the old man.

Well…the ‘old man’ isn’t going to die of heart disease just yet! While I had a hard time with the stress echo 'cause of my cold, I still managed to get close to 10 minutes on the treadmill…16 degree incline and 6mph before I stated coughing, my HR never got above 150 & they were hoping to get it near the 170’s but the coughing put an end of those hopes. Results … “Normal”

Another “load” off my back/chest!!!
Happy Holidays all!

Great News! That’s how it goes for us old school powerlifters.Badda Bing!Badda Boom! Jimmy T

I know it’s not really lifting-related, BUT, I’m going to the animal shelter and adopt another dog for Christmas. They put them down after 3-4 weeks, so at least one will be saved! My dog, Samson, has been so depressed since we lost Brin, I hope another dog brings him back to his former self. I’m looking at another pit, liver and white, named Haze.

Awesome, my brother. I worked at a shelter once and I hated when they put the dogs down. Then they fried them. Take the dog to school and I don’t think you and Betty have the time but it’s so worth it. The best to you and Betty.

Made a few trips to the shelter today…dragged Betty with me on the last trip…minivan had 3 instead of 2 returning! A 1.5 y.o. male pit joined our household. Now if I could only keep Sam from tearing him apart long enough to make friends! The cats already showed him who’s boss; now we hope Sam & Brewster take a liking to each other. Thanks Barry, for being you…a helluva guy!

Well, the thread hasn’t died yet!!! Still posting workouts on HT’s but use this for non-workout stuff & such…am sore today from DL’s and BP’s…can’t wait until tomorrow when I squat…my body will certainly be trashed Christmas Eve!
