PL Training for Master's Nats

Art,
You’re tooo kind. I had no legs. The DL is my favorite lift. There’s no BS, either it comes up or it doesn’t. No cheating here. Today was much better. I had sleep. I see my buddy in Texas about twice a year we were up all night every night. Jimmy is a great guy and a veteran in the gym. It was a honor to train with him. I sent him some sample supplements. If you send me your address I’ll be glad to send you some. Train hard, good luck, and take care of the bad wing. Jimmy, my form was much better today. I took a wider stance. Next week I’m treating myself to the Eagle Gym. Black iron Heaven.

Barry-
Wish I could join you at Black Iron Heaven.Good to hear the training is going well. The way you hit the iron will bring the gains. The desire burns deep down in you Barry.Chase that number down!

QT- That was a nice squat!Depth and execution was great. There is more in you. Nice and tight and big air.I dig it.Bring it home brother.TRAIN HARD! Jimmy T

Barry,
That wider stance and taking the slack out of the bar will help alot!

Jimmy T, The next pullover will be dedicated to you. As I told you, I want to do BW on that lift. As the old James Gang album said ,“made loud to be played loud.” May the force be with us. I’m blessed to have met you. Art, Listen to Jimmy, he’s the next state record holder in Texas in his weight class. If not, I’ll sit on him. That’s ugly. Love u guys.

Jimmy, I was happy about this workout even though the weight was “light”. I di not feel the suit was hurting my form…I did not have bruising anywhere. I also did not get a headache like the last time I squatted heavy with suit/straps up…it wqas too tight for me, I guess.

This suit is OK for me as it is there but it feels more like a wrestling singlet. So maybe I won’t get the extra pounds out of a tight one, but I will squat less weight more comfy and w/o the pressure headache…we’ll see in three weeks…sent in application and already received. Later!

Howdy Ya’ll!
I trained Chest-Shoulders-Tri’s on saturday and Squats today.Nothing intense just 8’s in each lift.I have two more weeks of this hectic schedule.I’m off to Amarillo in the morning. You guys TRAIN HARD!Be safe and a Blessed New Years to you and your families.Jimmy T

great stuff as always Art. what is the rational for the single arm dumbell presses, and why do you choose to do more with your “good/strong” side than the the other? i would think you would need to keep it equal to prevent imbalances, even if that meant your strong side used a lighter load.

oh, your squats were stud! deep and explosive.

jimmy, checked out you photos, you are a tank! and you have a beautiful family. solid.

btw, i am jealous as hell of you and art’s home gym. all mine consists of at this time is a sled and about 8 plates.

Art, Barry, here is a funny story of my own:

several years ago, when i was still a powerlifter, i was at a commercial gym trying to set up bands for squatting.

i had a pair of green bands each side. i had the bottoms set up so lots of tension was on them. unfortunately, the power rack was not bolted to the floor, and after my second rep the whole rack came off the ground, flew forward, and shattered the mirror in front of me, then one of the bands popped off the side, and that side of the bar launched upward, and a 25lb plate on the end flew of and became airborne, crashing several feet away in a crowd of spandex-ed old people playing around on some machines. at this point, pretty much everyone in the gym thought the apocalypse was at hand and was running for the front door. not one of my finer moments.

HT, back at ya. Barry’s stupid gym tricks. Years ago I was warming up on the decline bench. My buddy and I had a 45 and a 25 on the bar each side. There was a drop dead gorgeous gal walking on the track that I couldn’t take my eyes off. I started pulling the 45 off forgetting about the quarter. It hit my foot and it was painful as hell. My buddy looked at me laughing and asked if it hurt? I walked to the locker room and yelled for about 10 minutes. Have a great week. Jimmy safe travels.

HT - I have a fear of my strong arm getting weaker over time if I don’t stress it to the max. A long time ago, I came across an article, I think by Sherrington, that hypothesized by exercising s muscle group from one side of the body maximally, that there may be a ‘carryover’ training effect on the other even w/o training(as when immobilized in a sling or cast). I pray that when I exercise my good side, that maybe I’ll get even a slight carryover to my weak side. It’s probably wishful thinking on my part, but I believe and try nonetheless. Whatcha think???

QT and Jimmy T. We tend to focus on the physical here in brotherton heaven. Although I’ve never competed in lifting, I’ve competed in other sports. Don’t forget the importance of the power of the mind and your inner self. The preliminary workouts are over and many are logged here. Now it’s your WILL. Sorry for the heavy shit today. TRAIN HARD and be safe.
