I always look forward to your input to this thread. I think it gives it variety; yours and HT’s posts keep it from getting boring. If anyone else takes the time to really read these posts, I’m sure they would not be disappointed!
Again, I wish you and yours a happy, safe & healthy Thanksgiving.
I tried to train but having 30 people show up over the next 8 hours has my Betty doling out duties and responsibilities… I snuck into the garage on the pretense of looking for the turkey fryer and did…

Happy Thanksgiving to all. Art, I appreciate your genuine help and I wish you the best. Jimmy, I hope we can meet while I’m in Texas. We can be in Amarillo almost any day but New Years day, Eve. Tomorrow week 4 of the baby plates. I’m doing 1 set of 20 315ish depending on how I feel after warm-up.
I don’t think my shoes have been a help, so sock-feet from now on. Been doing zerchers and good mornings. Thanks again for the thread and the help. Train hard and may the shoulders survive.

Bench Press - every rep paused
45x10x2; 135x8; 185x5; 225x3;
Loose Black shirt - 275x1; 315x2x2; 350x0
350 blasted off chest but stalled horribly; especially with L arm about 4-5" off chest. It’s funny the way it came off chest, I THOUGHT it was going to be an easy rep, so I was surprised/humbled by not getting it all the way up.
Deadlift
135x8; 225x5
100’s - 245x4; 335x2; 425x1; 515x1; 555x0; 555x0; 555x1
555x1 on video if you care to see it!
1st crack at it came to just below knee and stopped! I thought it might be makable still. 2nd try just came off floor 2". My ass came up too fast on both of these. Last try, put some headphones on, had Betty video it to see what it looked like, good &/or bad, and it went all the way, slow but it went!
I don’t have any more in me in the DL - gonna start working %ages for 2’s, 3’s, & 4’s as per Priliben’s guidelines bet now and NJ States. Too sore to squat today(Sun); will try tomorrow or Tuesday.
QT,
I thought it moved steady and strong. You worked up to it and that shows a strength level needed for competition. The retakes are awesome in my opinion because they show focus and determination. It is that tough mental attitude that we need to have.I tip my hat to you brother.
I have some pics from thankgiving to post of the guys I train with.I will post them during the week.

We trained at my house and everyone always enjoys the hardcore atmosphere.
E-Z Bar Curls-2x8x110-1x8x130 All the training was done raw and it felt strong.
Short and to the point.Trying to balance the whole deal! Badda Bing!
TRAIN HARD! Jimmy T
QT’
One more point I want to make.A 50 year old 198’er has nothing to feel humbled about wtith that bench. After two doubles at 315, it takes a serious lifter to chase that 350!I dig the way you challenge yourself!Jimmy T
Jimmy T - Thanks for the words of wisdom!!!

Bench Press - every rep paused
45x10x2; 135x8; 185x5; 225x2; 235x6; 235x5; 235x5
I was trying for 235x6x3 but after the first set I just wasn’t strong enough to complete the next two sets. Today all the weights, including just the bar warm-ups felt heavy. Those missed DL’s and the one I made have left me a wreck!
I’m back from visiting my daughters in Alabama, hope everybody had a great thanksgiving! Art, the deadlifts look strong and solid. i say this thread could use more videos of QT lifting, definitely.
THANKS HT!!! I train alone for the most part and usually at ‘odd’ hours so it’s hard to get someone to video, but, whenever possible I’ll try, if that’s what you guys want. In return, I’ll expect some suggestions, critique, whatever in hopes of improving the lift from your perspective.
This week has been an ‘off’ week for me as far as training goes. My second job required more of my time this week and so I trained less…

Chain drag with new harness my son made
20 mins backwards
12 mins forwards
We could not afford any of the harness available from Ironmind or Atomic Athletic, so we made one for a few bucks in materials and 15 minutes labor. If anyone else wants one, I think we can make more at an extremely reasonable price

Harness can easily be reversed to drag backwards, as well. I used to hold the chain with bare hands or attach a v-handle to it. The harness makes life a lot easier IMO.
Art
i like the harness Art. i have a rigged up hip belt that i use. but lately, i have liked the extra pain/work/effort that is required by dragging the sled with the use of some straps that i hold out at arms length, sort of like the top portion of a bench press. it makes it harder for me to breath and seems to transfer the weight through my upper body and torso and abs and i feel like i get more overall body conditioning.
QT,
The 350 will fall soon!Way to go.I dig those numbers.I could not train this week.I will hit the gym early in the mornining this week. They open at 5am.
I like the harness.A safe and good week to all.TRAIN HARD! Jimmy T

No training yesterday, today, & maybe tomorrow - SICK!!! Sore throat, headache, aches & pains - not in the mood to train. Hopefully start up again on weekend. Hope all is well with the usual crew who check-in from time-to-time.
