Now you look 10 years younger
Belated congrats on busting the 200 Bartl. I know how sweet it is to get those big round numbers behind you.
Just took a look at that tri-course…pretty serious stuff, but you’ll be ready for it.
Cheers, Mick
Hey Bartyl brother way to smoke this clinic you are truly an inspiration to me. Are you still taking the HOT-ROX Extreme, and if so how integral do you feel it was in your wieght loss. Hey after your tri you should look into the big bear century truly an asskicking bike event.
Bartl,
Congratulations on your accomplishments thus far, bro. I have been following your progress from about a month into your program and your results are amazing. You have been quite an inspiration to me.
I share your “original” (or should I say pre-transformation) body-type along with your transformation goals. I was planning to mimic your program to accomplish my goals starting at the beginning of March. I had my supplements ordered and my mind right, but unfortunately ruptured my left Achilles tendon playing basketball on Feb. 22nd. This injury sucks! I won’t be able to return to the gym (lower body anyway) for another 3-4 months. I’ve also lost a lot of muscle and put on some more fat despite losing weight. I attribute the weight-loss to atrophy in my left leg since this is a non-weight baring injury for 2 months.
I figured I’d share this with you because you talk of feeling a “pop” with pain in your calf. I too had this issue at times and recently found out (post rupture) that my Achilles tendons are both too short which caused my calf strains (the “pop” you speak of). Long story short, purchase yourself or even build a slantboard and make sure to stretch your calves everyday (you can also use a stair).
I’ll continue to follow your progress, and “God-willing” I’ll start your program in June or July. Good luck these last few weeks!
Dude,
I downloaded the Pennywise album.
Good times.
Thanks.

I thought the same thing. Lazy Acres sells it here but its incredibly expensive for both. The best place I found is Tri-County Produce. They only sell coconut oil but its organic, half the price as Lazy Acres and you get twice as much.
go figure

Right on! Thanks for the frontal comparisons…

Ya, that course is no joke at all. A lot of people in the tri community around here who I tell that this is my first tri call me crazy.
I just give them my best Jack Nicholson laugh and smile from “The Shinning” and walk away.

Thanks a lot jmkb1. I am still taking HRX but I am so used to it by now that I don’t really “feel” it anymore, if that makes sense. Right now I feel Beta-7, I love that tingling feeling I get on my skin.
As for the bike ride after my race, I am doing a 200 mi race in July, followed by another tri in august. After that, I’m getting a rub and tug.

Holy shit that sucks. Sorry about the injury dude, that is a bummer. But just because you can’t do any lower body training, doesn’t mean still can’t train. Remember when I hurt my knee? You can still train your upper body and you should look to see if your gym has a machine where you just sit there and spin your arms in circles. Can’t remember the name of the machine right now or you can go to the pool and swim. All of which will help.
I find that soft tissue rolling has helped a lot since that “pop” in my calf. I roll every other day and haven’t had a problem since. Might be something to look into during your rehab and post rehab training.

Did you have to buy all new clothes yet? Or are you waiting until you get down to 190.

I’m waiting until 190 and I get a job. Shitty thing is, I have a lot of suits, expensive suits that are no longer tailorable. That’s the only part of my clothes that I have to buy that I am bummed about because my suits kick ass.
So it will take me a while to replace those.
But I will have to completely overhaul my ENTIRE wardrobe. Like everything.
Bartl,
Congrats on breaking 200. And the latest round of progress pics show AMAZING progress. I wish I had calves like that!
I wanted to mention, don’t give up hope on your expensive suits. I myself lost around 35 pounds, gained muscle too (around 15 pounds) in the last two years. I had Oxxford, Zegna and two hand tailored suits, plus one Ralph Purple Label. I found a custom tailor who was able to make them ALL work, quite well.
I am sure if in Indiana we have such tailors, there are plenty in CA. It is extremely important to go to a REAL custom suit tailor. NOT just an alterations place. And it won’t be cheap–cost me around 300 bucks a suit. But compared to 1,500 to a few thou for a new one, a good value.
I noticed today that CrewPierce adopted a bit of your S.M.M.-T. tone towards Shugart. Hats off to him! Please get back to the hilarity of your posts! (I hope Biotest has not secretly forbidden this in exchange for the article gig ha, ha, ha) This is something that REALLY has set off your posts from ALL OF the other PC participants, and makes yours the go-to read. It is ok to hear about rah-rah perfection, various excuses and misc. soap operas, but YOURS is the one to bring guffaws!
Onward!

yo bartlbee, i used to like your posts on pc clinic. i tip my hat to you on your progression. but within the last two weeks you have become an a&&hole. grow up dude. look at your old pics and realize what you have been for the last decade. a dough boy. and if you are worrying about passing a stupid FC exam, how will anyone ever trust you with there money? think about it?
Hey man, I appreciate your honesty. But opinions are like assholes, everyones got them.
I have changed but I am still the same person I was when I started, just 53 pounds lighter.
Like Thibs said, to be good at something you have to have a little bit of a cocky attitude and I don’t care what other people think. If I wanna be cocky, I will fucking be cocky.
I am doing something that millions of people can’t do and thats change my life for the better.
You don’t like what I’m saying, don’t read my thread.
There are so many other people out there who have sent me personal messages thanking me for being who I am and doing what I am doing because I am an inspiration to them.
That means more to me that one person thinking I’m an ass.

Keep it goin man 195 is right around the corner man!!!

The people have spoken.
I haven’t purposefully been a non-SMMT to the coaches, I just have run out of material and I felt a little bad. I got some good jabs at them earlier.
I think the “crepes” comment towards Thibs was a crowd favorite.
Never fear my millions of minions, I will start digging into the coaches again.
