Physique Clinic discussion for Barti

The latest pix are rad. If the UCSB babes aren’t hittin’ on you now, it’ll be soon I’m sure.

Not to nag you for info, but I saw you mention beta alanine. What supps/pills are you taking altogether? Are these Thibs-mandated / approved, or are you supplementing on your own?

Elk steaks? Dang! What’s next - Puma patties?

My supp’s hasn’t changed, but in no particular order:

HRX
Flameout
Low-Carb Metabolic Drive
Grow! Whey
BCAA

and then the addition of Beta Alanine. I didn’t ask to use this but I had an extra full bottle, so I figure that should get me through my race and then I can have a good idea of how well it works from an endurance standpoint.

If I could kill a Puma or know someone who killed a Puma and would give me some meat, I would eat it.

BTW…those elk steaks were SO good!

Beta-7 is great for endurance purposes, so yeah I approve.

I figured so, thats why I started taking them without asking.

Congrads on breaking the 200 mark

Hey, good job on breaking 200! I know its just a number, but those numbers can really mess with your head sometimes.

Great work on breaking 200!

Are you nervous about going down to sub-190 to get the full time six pack abs? Or have you, like me, decided that weight is just a number, and the look is what’s important?

I know what you mean about the definition of the abs and shoulders not showing up in pictures, having experienced that myself. I think the flash washes out the shadows, leaving the muscles looking flat. I guess that’s why pro’s hire photographers with professional lights for their pics. But if you changed the pics, then it wouldn’t be a fair comparision for the before and after shots. Maybe at the end you can work on the lighting for a “final” pose.

Also, I’m interested in hearing about if CT is going to train you until July. I want to see how he goes about upping your calories after the tri, since he mentioned that he wanted to get you back up to a solid 205.

Great job Bartl reaching under 200. I gave my friend the link to your log as prove that it can be done.

yes… I am completely juvenile but the phrase, “I gave a friend a link to your log” just really hit me funny.

Congrats on the 190s. How long has it been since you’ve been in the 190s? I’m about ready to hit the 160s (Im small =/) for the first time since i was about ten. Im almost 21 now so that’ll be quite the change. congrats again and keep it up, you really are an inspiration.

Nice job on breaking the 200 wall! Your transformation has been awesome in a very Eddie Izzard sort of definition of the term.

(Of course, there’s also the “Gah, I outweigh Bartl now!” factor I’ve got kicking around my head. Way to give a girl a complex! )

Thanks bwbski, I’m stoked!

Tell me about it. I was starting think it would never happen. It’s crazy how numbers can mess with you like that.

Thanks Wilsonj, it was tough but I’m glad I finally broke that damn 200 mark. I am not nervous for under 200 actually. Even though it is just a number, when you’ve been as high in weight as I have for so long, 190 becomes more than a number. The abs are just a bonus as far as I’m concerned.

The diet after the race will be interesting thats for sure because I still want to drop some BF% but I want to put some good muscle on my frame as well. Thibs is a mad scientist though and I will never doubt what he tells me to do.

Wow…didn’t even catch that one. That is funny though. Makes me wonder what you were thinking about when you read that…

Lets see, the last time I was 190 was probably back in 1992 or 1993, sometime when I was a sophomore in high school I think.

Wow…15 years ago.

Good “The Riches” reference, major points there.

I think the last time I was 190 was 1992 or '93. So 15 years…

And if you don’t mind, I’m going to take a picture like your avatar, put in quotes “you’re an inspiration” and then put it all on top of a giant M and send it to Ann Arbor, just so they can see that an OSU person thinks a UM person is their inspiration!

j/k, but I had to take my shot…couldn’t resist

Honestly, you’ve earned even that by now.
