Timbo, solid post. I don?t have a lot of time at the moment, so I?ll just quickly comment. Again, let me throw out the disclaimer that my thoughts are based solely on my experience.
1.A 3-day carb up for some is too much. However, it?s very individual obviously. The most I have ever used is 2 ? days and have now moved to 2, with the second being a combo carb/fat load.
2.I find going zero carbs to be a mistake. First it?s not necessary to go that low to deplete to the point where you?ll really supercompensate. In fact, you can run the risk of just not filling out enough if you are too depleted.
3.I wouldn?t train 3 days in a row ? upper, lower, and full body depletion. Again, I feel it?s just too much. Training normally stops about 6 days out and quad training about 2 weeks out. The full body depletion will be more than enough.
4.Agree on your totals for Day 1 of the carb up, but I think you have too much for the second day. I would suggest no more than 5g/kg LBM OUTSIDE of the fat load. (which in case there is any confusion is a combination of long chain fats and simple sugars).
5.I wouldn?t suggest any cardio. You want to keep blood volume up and maintain sugar levels in those last few days. The only thing I?d suggest if some posing practice.
Again, just my thoughts.
And very, very valuable thoughts in deed, Thunder Cat. I really appreciate you sharing your time and thoughts, T-Boss. They are certainly invaluable for my own purposes, as I think they’ll also be so for others.
I too am short on time at the moment. However, I’ll be back later to ask some questions as well as to help J-Bird get a finalized plan for his shoot.
T-Rock
What’s with all the question marks in my post?
Anyway, the “2?” should actually read 2 1/2
I would like to thank you both for taking time out to help a brother out. I am sure that with the two of you guys’ heads together, and maybe with some of my own personal experience, a plan can be devised that will make me look the best I can, now if I can just get this darn guy to get me a date. But once again thanks gentleman
Thunder, really glad to have you around, buddy. J-Bird, really glad to have you and your excitement!
T-Cat, I guess my three-day prescription stems from both the traditional carb-loading scheme and from my own experience (three days weren’t enough!).
-
If J were to follow the carb+fat load on the second day, how much fat would he be looking to take in on this day?
-
I agree that the three consecutive days of training may be uncalled for; however, this is again from the original scheme. Alternative to a full-body circuit-training session, J could opt to do back-to-back days of training, splitting the body into two.
-
Definitely agree with the posing practice. J-Bird, you should now be practicing your arse off and loving it! If you need any posing advice, e-mail me.
T-Cat, I’d like to perhaps get your summary of the loading strategies. While I have the handle on the first day (i.e. training and carbs), I’d like to hear more about the second day and the day of the shoot.
Thanks, T-Cat.
WEll I just wanted to post that the date is set, I will be shooting on the 11th and 12th of June, so it is time to step it up, with that said, I will looking to here from some of you as to how I can approach these next couple of weeks in order to execute this plan to perfection. The strut yo stuff thread will really come in handy now
