Well I just recieved a lucrative oppurtunity from a major supplement compay, and am going to be doing a commercial in 2-3 weeks, I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice on how to prepare for this, naturally I am thinking that to come in looking as good as possible I must reduce some calories, but from where. I am guessing carbs and fat, but should I cut one more than the other. I also was wondering about a possible depletion, what do you guys think? I do not really know how to do this properly, any one with experience willing to help?thanks guys and girls for any help.
CONGRATS my man!! How did you land the gig? I’ll let the “higher-ups” answer your question (ie Timbo, Tampa Terry)…but I just was curious how you got the gig? Good luck. Geez…I need some cash too…haha.
How the hell did you get a supplement contract and you do not know how to get ready for a photo shoot. Was every other bodybuilder in the world busy that day or something? Just wondering.
I think you need to be a bit more specific with your goals.
We need height, weight, bodyfat, current diet, etc, pronto.
AWESOME!! Congrats man. Good luck with the dieting, and I hope you look awesome. Looking forward to seeing the commercial!!
El Tigre, thanks for the permission![]()
I really want to help out my dog, J-Bird, so as soon as I get his consent, we’re going to get rolling. I think it will be good to post some of the things on the forum, as we’ll be doing (and have been for some time) correspondence via e-mail.
Since 2-3 weeks isn’t that long of a time period, and I’m sure that the J-Bird is still a ripped fool (just check out his pics in the photo section), I’m basically going to propose a switch to more P/F meals, away from predminantly P/C meals.
Likewise, we will work towards some depletion, as I think it’s critical to come in very full for the shoot. Thunder has posted some excellent info on carbing up for a contest or shoot, and I’ve got some background on it also.
All in all, J-Bird, is going to be looking like a Stud. Well, since he already is a Stud, he’ll be a Supah Stud.
thanks man I just told them my story and sent some pics, and I gues they like it. We will see thoug as now it is time to get really focused and dial it in.
Curious – Why would this “major supplement company” that gave you this tremendous opportunity not be able to give you this advice? Seems to me they’d want as much credibility as possible, and to be able to truthfully say (if they’re even interested in thruth in advertising, which I guess is an oxymoron in the supplement industry) that your appearance is the result of their supplements would be utter gold to them.
In response to the gentleman who seemed upset with the fact that I was asking for some help and am going to be getting payed to promote a companies supplement, I am sorry my friend, I guess it is just that they recognized my hard work, and saw where I have brought my body. Timbo I am all for dialing this in with your help, I just dropped you a bomb, and if you want we can communicate via this thread, as to possibly help others in my same situation. As you know I am a very skeptical person when it comes to changing my diet, but I am loosening way up with hearing all of the positive things people have to say of your work, excellent job my friend. I do not want to come off vain at all, so I want any one reading this thread to understand that I am only getting a chance to shoot this ad because I use to be a big hefty, but with an unstoppable desire to get in awesome shape I have been able to transform my physique very drastically, which is what these companies like the public to see. I am by no means some ripped up freak, just a hard worket who puts his full effort into everything he sets his mind too. But back to the diet, Timbo lets get the ball rolling. I know you are going to want to set me up with a plan of 4 meals p-f and two meals p-c, with that being said, break it down bro.
Yo J!!,
I’m with you my man! No need for people to question your hard work and dedication. I’m proud of ya my man! I’m all for sharing info in this thread. I’m sure Timbo will get the ball rolling and I am anxious to participate! Just to start…I think 4 P+F meals and 2 P+C meals are perfect. Actually that is what I am currently doing. I have noticed some great improvements in my physique using this type of meal timing. Lately I have been training in mid afternoon…so I have been eating all P+F leading up to training, followed by post-workout drink and then 2 P+C meals. Should we share what our diets consist of or not? Anyways, can’t wait to hear what others think. Tony G
What the? You post on Tstosterone’s forums and I’m assuming using Biotest products and you wrote into another supplement company telling them about your transformation and no doubt informing them that their products and your hard work are responsible. Forgive me for coming off like an asshole, but isn’t that something we constantly fight against here? Were always railing against these companies and their phony tetimonials. I understand your desire and maybe I’d do the same thing if given the chance, but…
Ok, I just read on the Photo Forum that you only use vitamins and protein. That leads me to ask you what this supplement company that you are going to be involved with manufactures? Just curious.
tony G I got the pm, and I hear you on the negativity which has seemed to spring up, but I am used to that sort of thing. Glad to hear that you have had succes with the use ot Timbo’s knowledge, I too have used pieces of his plan and seen good results. One thing I want to throw out to everyone is that I am a real skeptic, and right now with only 2-3 weeks to prepare for this shoot I am kind of weary of drastically changing my diet, but I am definately open for suggestions and help. I know this is where my good friend Timbo gets a little upset with me, as he has so much knowledge and my stubborn butt is always questioning things, but if I didnt than I would not and could not feel comfortable, but ton-loc, thanks for the reply bro
J-Diddy,
Can I ask what your meal timing is like now? What foods are you eating? What are your goals for the next 2-3 weeks? Just to maintain or to shed a little BF? I think if you did the 4 P+F and 2 P+C plan and did 2-3 HIIT sessions per week while hittin the weights…you should be good to go. I am a pretty stubborn horse too, but sometimes you just got bite the bullet and grow a sac and do something different…know what I mean??..haha. Oh, and along with CGB…I am curious as to what company this shoot is for? But I understand if you dont want to share that info. Talk to you later…“El Tigre”
J-Bird! You’re going to be great, my man.
First off, CGB, I don’t think my boy J wrote into the company. As a matter of fact, I think the company approached him. And you can bet that I’ve got J-Bird hooked on Biotest supps, particularly Low-Carb Grow!
El Tigre, thanks for your support in this matter, as it is greatly appreciated.
Aight, J-Bird, I’ve got a few minutes before I have to go tear up a final exam.
So, don’t worry about hurting my feelings if you don’t accept everything I say. I know it works, so it’s no big thing:-)
Also, I don’t think we need to make drastic changes in the kcal content of your diet. Dropping calories is very much inappropriate and also would do more harm than good. So, obviously, my main concerns are going to be getting adequate protein and replacing carbs with fat.
Therefore, I really think that you should replace your first meal of the day with a protein and fat meal (note: J-Bird trains after his first meal). Then I suggest that you have your normal post-workout liquid meal during training. Therefore, I don’t think you need too much before training. Maybe a couple scoops of Grow! and some flax or some nut butters.
Follow up your training with a whole-food meal of protein and carbs (shift your normal first meal of the day to this meal–that way you don’t have to deal with dropping the oats and apple:-). Again, I need to reitterate that this is a very short-term plan.
The rest of the day, stick to meals of predominantly protein and fat, complemented by fibrous veggies. You know the story, I’m sure. If you have any questions about food choices or meal combos, drop 'em!
This plan should only be required for about two weeks or so. About three days out from the shoot, we’ll begin water manipulation and carb loading–it’s going to be so damn fun! You’re going to look great, bro. For now, shoot for 1.5 to 2 gallons of water daily.
Later, bro. Time to go score an Ace!
If this is for a “before” pic, have a coke with every meal and eat a potato right before you go to bed.
Oh my god. Not the negativity! GASP! I was just wondering and asking which supplement company it was. I didnt say anything bout your hardwork or dedication, blah, blah. But usually when a company picks someone to endorse a product in a particular field, they pick someone who is somewhat experienced in what they are promoting. If I am getting someone to help me sell tires for example, I am not going to get some guy down the road who just happens to own a truck to endorse my product. Im gonna get someone known and experienced to give my product some credibility.Thats just the way advertising works. I can hear it now. Im jealous. I mean am I the ONLY person who wondered this?
J good Job. You’ll be fine. Who cares what supplement company. Personally I wouldn’t tell any of you’s out there. Not only that I think there might be also a conflict of intreast. Since, this is also a site that sells supplements. So there could be legal issues on him letting you guys in on what supplement company he’s posing for.
J good luck. And Congrats.
In Health,
Silas Chen
“legal issues”?
Are we all supposed to close our eyes when we see the ad so we don’t get tangled up in this web of deceit?
fitone: uh, doubt there’d be “legal issues”. Especially when so many of us do not restrict our supplements to just that of Biotest. I even use, hush, hush Biotech (protein powder). BIOTECH. okay, so sue me.
Good one, Brent. And Goldberg: nope, you’re not the only one. Let’s hope J-man will pass on some of that $$ from this contract to Timbo or anyone else who helps him achieve “contract shape”.
I’m all for celebrating the good virtues of a fellow T-freque; however, this does make me wonder the validity of such a supplement company when contracting someone who has no knowledge on how to apply supplements and basic nutrition. Not a flame nor insult. Just wondering out loud.
