Phone Calls Are Not My Thing

How do you do the “Just saying Hi” phone call, and how do you get off the phone. I would like to limit my calls to 5 maybe 10 minutes, but when I say I have to go people act like I’m brushing them off.

That one is easy. I simply thank them for their time or tell them that I have enjoyed talking to them and I tell them that I will let them get back to whatever they were doing. Usually something like: “It has been nice jawing with you. I will let you get back to the wife and kids”.

Texting is a passive aggressive way to communicate.

I like texting, especially if I receive the text with my phone deeeeeeep in my pocketand my phone is on VIBRATE and even better if it is an obscene message…

I cannot be the only one about this

Anyways, to sum shit up, I mad the phone call I needed to make after a 20 minute self pep talk. She didn’t answer, but wound up calling me back 30 seconds later. She was at work. We chatted for about a minute. I felt great. Realized I was getting worked up over nothing and will not be having this issue again. (At least not to the same degree)[/quote]

So you won’t need anymore advice about pee buckets ?

Do you like movies about gladiators?

My beef with talking on the phone is often times, it goes on for much longer than I desire.

But people texting other people while physically near you, now that is god damn annoying.

Texting IS convenient as hell though. See lots of people doing while driving though, that’s idiotic.

ACT AS IF

I did get a job where I made a lot of calls. Worked for a year getting/making a fair amount of calls everyday. It never did get better. I still had to psyche myself up and plan carefully what I had to say before calling. And to this day, I still avoid calling strangers at all costs. If I have to ask a question to someone at a store, I will just drive there.

The good thing is, most people in offices are really fast at answering their email. A lot of the time, you will get a faster answer through email than trying to leave a message. Probably because they hate talking on the phone too.
