texting FTW
I’d rather text all day than talk on the phone.
Agreed. I also worry that I am calling at a bad time. I don’t even like to talk to my girlfriend on the phone. Pretty much the only people I comfortably call is my family.
I text non stop however. Way better.
If you text while you drive, you wouldnt see me cry one tear if you got done up (killed by your own idiocy) Anyone who does that should get the death penalty for their total lack of intelligent life and should get brutally ass raped before capital punishment to inflict as much humilation and pain as possible.
At least I can take comfort in the fact that the upcoming shit storm is gonna hit in the next few years (read : massive increases in brain tumors and neurodegenerative problems). Thats what happens when you have a country ran by corporations and a society of sheep willing to believe the company line time and time again.

WOW. Slightly bitter, are we? That’s why I TEXT man, less proximity to the brain! Now the fact that it is in my pocket next to my balls, that may pose a problem down the road. We’ll see I guess.
My company had us take classes on communication. Most important point: Treat a phone conversation the same way you would treat a normal, face to face conversation. Smile, use body language, stand up, walk around, make hand gestures, whatever. Part of the uncomfortableness (does that exist? If not, call me Shakespeare) of speaking on the phone is that you hear the other person, and talk, but try to control your impulses to move and use body language. Also, believe it or not, a person WILL notice if you’re smiling or frowning, even on the phone.
Another thing that may make you subconciously uncomfortable is the close proximity of the phone to your face. Think about it, how often do you stand within inches of each other and talk straight into the other persons ear face to face? Not gonna happen, unless it’s intimate, and then you’ll probably whisper, not talk normally. Easy solution: use a speakerphone and get some distance between the other person and you.

I would prefer to leave a voicemail most of the time when I call someone. Especially if I’m just calling to relay information.
What’s worse is when you call hoping you can leave a voicemail and then they actually answer the phone. “Um…shit, I didn’t actually want to talk to you. Can I call you right back and just leave a voicemail? Don’t answer next time.”
Call your phone company. Usually, they have a code, like *123 or something, you can dial before the actual number that will take you straight to voicemail. I don’t know if this is a european invention, and even if it isn’t, the code won’t be the same here as in the US. However, your phone company should be able to tell you if it exists and what it is.
Good advices everybody and it helps that I’m not alone in this. I actually feel almost 100% better, maybe it was being tired this morning or making phone calls to a few insurance agencies this afternoon but I will be making some important calls tonight and have lost my anxiety over it.

Not bitter… just acclimated to the near hopelessness of the situation. I dont think people have any idea just how big this epidemic will be until unfortunately its too late (Brain tumors are just like pancreatic cancers - Your f–ked ). The legitimate research (read : Non-Industry funded) clearly shows that their is some serious concerns and problems with cell phone use. Now take a look around just how prevlenant this culture absolutely adores its precious cell phones. Too bad their was NEVER any safety studies done prior to their introduction on the market. You may think Im just nothing but hot air but you can believe what you want. And yes, their is research showing that keeping the cell close to your manhood could potentially lead to fertility problems.

I know you dont give a shit… but the reason I got so much animousity towards texters and driving… is because Ive been on damn near 10+ near accidents because of these brain-dead idiots parading down the road on the cell phone because hey their just that important that they have got to take that call because guess what - other peoples safety doesnt matter… only their meaningless conversation does apparently.

I’m such a pussy when it comes to making phone calls. Even to friends at times. Calling people is just not my thing, and I’m a big people person when it comes to face to face confrontations, but phone calls I just have so much troube with, especially when it comes to calling women I like and that like me. Texting sucks and is a cowards way of speaking so I prefer calling. Any advices, or does anyone experience the same shit?
Thanks
there is such a Thing as telephobia…
its usually because of using the phone alot at some point that was very stressfull ect… I am a pathtic worm lol… I’m very nervous making calls to just about anyone…I cant understand why I react that way :S… Ironically im a pro with instant messaging ect… rofl.
I had a friend a few days ago who I was basically telling everything to say to a girl he wanted to ask out… it didnt work out…he said something before I took over that made her suspicious of him liking another person ect…was true… couldn’t be fixed imho
anyway… as soon as the person answers the phone I dont have the problem anymore… lol
Seriously, I know what you mean. Funny enough, what’s gotten me accustomed to being on the phone is recognizing that I’m the one whose bold enough to at least talk than to communicate through text messages.
Most of the time I see text messages as a test that young women put out there. If you go through the insane inconvenience of texting them back, then you’ve proven some minimal level of dedication to them. It’s sick.
What you need to do is let your hatred for text messages fester a little more. Think about how expensive they are. Great. Now pick up the phone and start talking.
Don’t worry about sounding nervous with girls. You know how nervous they are? They’re so nervous they’d rather spend 5 minutes typing out what they want to say to you instead of just calling you and saying it in 3 seconds. That’s a lot of trouble to stay concealed. You’re not nearly as nervous as you think you are in the grand scheme of things.
Anyways, to sum shit up, I mad the phone call I needed to make after a 20 minute self pep talk. She didn’t answer, but wound up calling me back 30 seconds later. She was at work. We chatted for about a minute. I felt great. Realized I was getting worked up over nothing and will not be having this issue again. (At least not to the same degree)
