Man, that is weird! It almost looks like scar tissue from an injury.
Is it just in one calf, or both?
I kind of wish I had an anomaly.
lol

Lol you got a messed up calf. I wonder if i ever get lean enough or big enough i geuss if i will have a weird hamstring. I tore it 2 consecutive years in HS. Got to have some scar tissue or deformity from that lol
^^LOL… thanks guys.
Its only in my right calf… the muscle just pops out like that when I pull my foot up. Left one looks normal.

Yeah, I partially tore a bicep a few years ago (without med attention), and now that it’s “healed” it looks really shitty around the area it attaches at the joint. In my case, getting leaner makes it look even more fucked up.
lol
slight tears in muscle fascia can allow for small protuberances like that. My brother has quite a few of them, and informed me that they’re very common amongst the professional athletes he treats.

I have one in my right tricep.
Sometimes the way your fascia connects can cause little protuberances or odd shapes - I have a “dent” in my left forearm from how my fascia joins up. Would never have known it was shaped like that if I didn’t start lifting weights either.
EDIT: basically just said what Stu said, LOL sorry.

Some people also have fatty nodules deep under the skin or trapped in muscle fascia. You see these often on some competitors when dieted down. It isn’t an oil abscess when you see one.

That is a fucking long way off from how Phil’s calves looked in that picture.
I have a decent understanding of human anatomy and how muscles contract, I highly doubt that Phil’s calves looked like that just because thats how they look contracted. It doesnt even make sense that they would get thicker and bubble out at the bottom of the calf muscle like that when being contracted.

I am no pro and have average calfs at best… But my right calf has a weird knot/lump that pops out when I flex. Like half a golf ball? It’s so weird hahaha. It only pops out when I flex my calf by pulling my foot up.
^^doesnt really impact the thread, just a fun fact… Well actually probably not even that fun really? Lame
PICS PLEEEEEZE!
I witnessed Mentzer’s calves up-close back in '79 and they were the biggest/weirdest calves I’ve ever seen. I haven’t seen calves with a “ball” at the bottom since!
Please post a pic, Greg!
:)
not the best pic but you can see the bulge/lump
ITS NOT A TOOMAH

? So, you take one picture of one pose and jump to a conclusion like that?
Wow, Prof X you continue to make yourself sound more and more retarded…I did not think that was possible.
lol a fat nodule? You mean the things that are about the equal to or less than the size of a penny that you can see especially on the abdomen of those with very low BF? Holy shit I can’t believe you are serious.
Learn to military press more than 200 lbs and how to actually perform a lunge after “decades” of training, then we’ll talk.
Audiogarden, thank you for having a brain. This doesn’t even take advanced knowledge of anatomy, you just need common sense.
