Arnold’s ham were only cut a couple of years at most: 73 and maybe 74. No one talks about him having the greatest calves of all time or near it. I don’t know who had the best calves of all time, but Yates, Dickerson, Mattarazzo, Platz, Cutler and Dillett all had better.

GASP! The fiend! This is how real super villains start out. Does anyone believe Bane squats to depth?[/quote]
Man, he’s gonna have a hard time hitting depth in that powerlifting meet he signed up for next month…
There were rumours Arnold had calf implants ![]()
Wow, Phil Health is so damn boring. I feel guilty increasing his youtube views that was so terrible.
They’re both greats of the sport, but to me the two era’s are completely different ball games theres no comparing them it like comparing race cars of the then and of now, both were great at the time. Only difference is the creator of the Bugatti would not bag out the creator of the mustang? Just phil looking for attention, look at his attitude in Generation Iron is a direct reflection of this situation as well.
Also im a great fan of both of these two, but have always wondered why exactly Arnold is probably the most renowned bodybuilder of all time? People like Lee Haney never really get a mention unless your into the sport. Just curious

You really can’t figure out the answer to this question? That’s pretty amazing.

Whats pretty amazing is that you dont realize that this if a forum, people ask questions and other people answer, I was asking a question hoping other people would answer as i do not myself know the answer entirely. If the forum was full of people like you how would anyone ever gain anything valuable from this forum… There’s always one isnt there…

People don’t know a champion of a sport hardly anyone gives two shits about. That shouldn’t surprise you, how many dart champs do you know?

For one, Arnold did things outside of bodybuilding that no other top bodybuilder ever did. He did well in real estate, got a business degree, did tv and magazine commercials (from the US to Europe to Japan), appeared on talk shows (and charmed each and every host), and of course, rose to fame due to Pumping Iron, Conan and Terminator. Arnold wanted to branch out of bodybuilding and make a name for himself in not only sports but also business, politics and entertainment. He is probably the most charismatic of all the bodybuilders from the golden era and beyond. He’s also the first one to build himself into a brand. He refused to change his last name (although he did go by Arnold Strong, for a while) and refused to have his voice dubbed.
He also wasn’t afraid to fail. He kept going at it and eventually landed really good movie roles. There is an element of luck involved, sure, but his incredible persistence and sheer determination is what sets him apart I think from others. Not to mention he has a certain ‘look’ to him. He was born to play Conan, some say, and I would agree.
As fantastic a bodybuilder Lee Haney was, for the general public, he isn’t charismatic enough, nor did he attempt to break out of bodybuilding (he does an enormous amount of work with charities but as you can guess, that will not get your name know to the world).
There is so much more, but I hope this helps a bit.
Keep lifting,
Marc

why don’t you just google ‘arnold schwarzenegger’, and then google ‘lee haney’? Their wikipedia pages should answer your question, but just in case it doesn’t, I’ll give you the cliff notes: Arnold has been a movie star for 3 decades, he’s one of the most charismatic individuals on the planet, and he was the governor of California. Lee Haney lifted weights.
I can’t wait to hear your next question. “Hey guys, what’s the difference between a barbell and a dumbbell? I mean, I could figure it out myself, but but this is an internet forum, and people ask questions on forums, and blah blah blah blah blah.”
Maybe this is off-topic.
But I know Haney is a wonderful human being and a great person. But I always found him to be too embellished in the way he talked and his mannerisms, I kinda find it annoying.
