Phatman's Rehab Log

We actually play NFL rules. The refs for our game were pretty good this time. I was doing some shirt grabing and the Ump warned me 2 or 3 times that it was getting close to holding. I told him I was old so he had to give me a little something to even it out…LOL

Yep we umpires take it easy on O-linemen. Holding is a ‘take down’ in my book, especially away from the direction of the play.

I have seen the NFL rule book. It’s a nightmare!

So the Doc said it was just Golfer’s elbow (opposite of tennis elbow) shot me with some cortisone and said I was good to play. That is good news! I wish I could get a shot in both elbows, wrists, and ankles! LOL

Wow. How do you get Golfer’s elbow playing football? So … do golfer’s get football knee? LOL!

I think we’re all gonna need a vat of cortisone pretty soon. Let’s just line up and take turns dunking. I’ll go first!

Glad to hear you’re still in the game!

Good news on the “bone” Colin. One less thing to worry about for the next game. You going to start at Tackle again?

Thanks! Ya it looks like I will be starting and going the whole game again. Hopefully we can move some of these guys around and come out with a win!

As my daughter says, old guys rule! Give them hell, and we want a full game report.

Good deal on the elbow and starting again. Have I mentioned I hate golf?

Finally a win to report! 17-14 we drove the field and kicked the FG with 20 seconds left. What a great game, our Defense was awesome all game long and the Offense did what it needed to to pull out the win in the end. I went the whole game at LT and happy to report did not give up a sack and threw the block that sprung the first score. Sweep left and I pulled from the LT spot and ear holed the LB, our RB cut inside off the block and went 20 yards to the end zone. We win next week and that would make us 5-5 with a real shot of climbing back into the play off picture!

Way to go, bro. Have a good recovery day and enjoy the victory.

I can see the play developing in my mind. Great job and good luck. Can’t wait for the next report.

I can tell you’re riding high on that win! Good job! Rest up, then you can start getting jazzed for the next round of pain and pleasure!

That is good news Colin. Sux the season hasn’t gone better, you’ve worked damn hard for it. At least you’ve had fun playin’, most of couldn’t play at that level anymore buddy. Still looking forward to you lifting routine.

I like the new avatar Colin. Looks like you are getting ready to pinch off inside pursuit there. Did you pancake anyone on that play?

We used to grade 5 pts for a pancake. Of course that was way back in the days before open hand blocking!

Thanks Bro. That Pic was taken on special teams kick off return I think. I think I made the block on that one, lol.

We have limited coaching in Semi-pro it would be nice to come out of a game and get a grade we kind of have to police ourself’s. Line man on the side line watch the guys in the game and coach them up on the side line. For the most part it works pretty well.

Colin, how is the tricep/elbow holding up? Has the cortisone shot gotten rid of all the pain and allowed you to train/play?

Oh yeah, thanks for reminding me. Yep, the Cortizone did the trick! I have a little pain but nothng like it was. The Doc said I will pay for it when it wears off in a month or so but at least I can get through the season. Hence the red elbow powerlifting support in the pictures, LOL…

I’m a little late…what league is this? are there lot of teams? you juggle a full time job and workout as well? when do you sleep?

HAHA - Yeah it is a Semi-pro league in Western PA. 24 teams in two divisions,

6:30 At the gym
7:45 back home getting ready for work
9:00 Start work
18:30 To football practice (either mine on Tues and Thurs or my Sons on Mon, wed. Oh yeah I coach too)
21:30 back home
23:00 Lights out

My season will end soon so I will get some relief. also my sons season just started a week ago so it wasn’t this full before.

you still have time for on-line classes from 11 pm-2 am
