PHAT System

Looking at Layne Nortons PHAT system and I thought he has a concept that has alot of potential but he didnt set it up the best that he could have. What are your opinions on this program. Basically it is a powerlifting/hypertrophy split that looks like this:

Lower Body Power
Upper Body Power
Rest
Leg Hypertrophy
Back and Shoulders Hypertrophy
Chest and Arms Hypertrophy

Ive switched it up quite a bit just looking for feedback on how you guys think his concept is good and/or bad.

ask yourself “what qualifications and/or years of experience do you have to think you can improve this routine?”

Im not asking for criticism on anything. I know that I have enough years of experience, schooling, and training to improve a routine for myself. Im only looking for others opinions on his program/concept. Sorry if I made you somehow misunderstand what i was looking for.

I like it and use it. I subbed the pendlay rows for high pulls and back squats for front squats. It works great if you have the time and energy to do it.

I actually find it interesting that you felt Layne Norton didn’t have the best idea for the program but solicited this forum for feedback on this approach. I cannot imagine a situation wherein you would discount Norton’s perspective on the matter yet welcome a member of this forum’s view.

Give it a go and let us know how it works out.

Is that how you speak in real life? If so, you must be a blast to train with.

OP: “program” is ok, nothing particularly special. The principle behind it is DUP - has some decent evidence in the literature - look it up. Why does every idiot feel the need to come with their “own” stupidly named “programs”.

I train in my garage with my wife on her treadmill watching General Hospital on her tablet, so in general how I speak doesn’t seem to bother her, haha.

AHAH funny shit man. Auto regging weights on a serious note, is key. Somedays you can hit more some days less its good to know yourself and what your capable of that day.
