After a few days of below-freezing weather outside, down to 8 degrees in the laundry room, but still comfortable to lift. I have a radiator there I could just open the valve on, but then I figure I’d need to do that like an hour in advance so the room has time to warm up, and, eh… just too much advance planning, or I’m too cheap, or something.

No blood today. Maybe a few weeks with no hook grip finally let that skin heal properly, or maybe it was just dumb look with how I gripped. Either way, I’ll take it.

Warming up for the floor presses with my feet up in the air, just out of curiosity, seems to have led to better form. My butt got used to the idea of having no choice but to be firmly planted, and that somehow made it less tempted to try to rise up with the working weight even though I do need my feet on the ground, otherwise I couldn’t balance the single-arm presses.

Funny thing is, warming up for the deads felt pretty crappy and tight, so I decided to just do some light sets of 5. Those felt pretty good, so on the third set I figured I might as well do a couple extra and go for 7 or 8. Made it to 10, though I barely locked that one out. Then I weighed myself, and 84.5 kilos is what the scale said, so that’s a double bodyweight deadlift for 10 reps. That’s something I haven’t successfully done in a few years, so that’s great. God really decided to bless me with a confidence boost today.
