Can anyone share their recovery process from having their appendix removed? E.g. time before you hit the gym, stretching, rest, exercises you avoided, etc. Thanks.
Anyone?
I just had mine out too, and I’m dying to get back in there and regain the ~15 pounds of muscle I’ve lost.
Good lord man, I lost five pounds total at most. How long were you in the hospital? A week after my surgery I started doing pull ups, lunges, and pull ups again. A week and a half later (last Friday) I went on a three mile trail run and I did it again today. Going to do the tough mudder this Saturday and start lifting heavy shit next Monday. I’m not suggesting any of this, I’m just recovering well…I think. Everyone EXCEPT the doctor is telling me to slow down but I’m feeling alright.
well, I did have some minor complications after the surgery. I had internal bleeding building up for a week, and it kinda erupted blood. I thought I was gonna kick the bucket. So now I have this extra bellybutton that I can fit half my thumb in, have to stuff it full of gauze every 12 hours.
I feel like I could ease back in to some kind of training right now, but I got the standard “don’t lift anything over 15 pounds” for another few weeks. Seems kinda like an arbitrary date/poundage to me though.
I think the weight loss essentially came from not eating. I was extremely bloated after the procedure, I’d say its just down to normal now. Probly a compound of the digestive tract getting worked over, the gas they pump into ya, and all that blood pooling. I used what stomach space I had for fluids. I ate probly 1.5 good meals a day.
I was out the game for like a month.
Got a gnarly scar to show for it now though.
Sorry Im of no hep, but I did have my appendix removed a long time ago… anyone have any idea what it does? I was told ti does nothing back then, but my gut tells me its the doctors who just dont really know what it may do.
I had my spleen removed laproscopic style. I rested completely for two weeks and then returned to martial arts…no contact…just forms but teacher was still impressed. I didn’t hit weights until about three weeks out cuz I didn’t want to cause a hernia in the area. THis should be your overall concern. You want the wound to heal and not pop your sutures…lol. I’d chill for two weeks like I did then start back with light cardio activity. The area that you recieved surgery in is going to be compromised so you will have to focus on Abdominal rehab and just general core work.
Do it smart, and do it safe…cuz if you return to lifting too soon, the compromised area where you recieved surgery will not hold up to training stress. IE hernia or severly pulled abdominal cavity.
