Deload is over. Let’s kick it into high gear! - wrote this before the session…

1 hang power snatch
2 @ 73 kg
2 @ 76 kg
2 @ 79 kg
2 @ 81 kg
2 @ 82 kg - 2nd one caught too low.

2 deadlift (no reset at the top)
1 x 3 @ 207,5 kg
1 x 1 @ 207,6 kg …

Injured myself on the 2nd rep, completely out oft he blue… @alex_uk - hey, look who joined the club.

I was not able to continue deadlifting.

3 seated btn press (no back support)
3 x 6 @ 60 kg

4 btn lat pull down
3 x 12 @ 55 kg

5 wrist curls
4 x 15 @ 35 kg

Right now the impact of the injury is more mental than physical. While it sucks and I feel (and move) a bit crippled, I know I will be okay. The timing is messing with my head though. I put in a lot of work these past 9 weeks and it feels like I am getting robbed of the fruits of my labor. Also events are to be released anyday for the show I intended to do in May and I don’t know how this injury will impact my ability/ decision.

I injured the are of my left SIJ with strong referring pain into the whole glute. Lower back itself is unaffected at this point (although SI-pain is part of the back pain spectrum). In the moment it felt like something ‘gave out’. I will give myself at least until tomorrow before I assign this to a working diagnose. I did start simple rehab measures immediately.

Dude that friggin sucks! Sorry to hear that. You joining me being stiff as an Englishman now? Hope it’s nothing serious, want to see you compete and smash a whole load of PRs!

Did rehab in the morning, some heat treatment after work and about an hour rehab session which went fantastic. My negativity almost feels unwarranted given that I am lucky and this will not at all be a long setback! On the other hand this is my space and I can get upset if I want to and share about it.

Against what I expected and after a terrible night, my SI felt better this morning than yesterday. I dragged myself to work and that also kinda helped because I kept moving.

The rehab session felt very good. I am still stiff, have some trouble (pain, very short stun) when I change postures rapidly or sat down for too long. BUT the whole thing is very load tolerant and that is brilliant.

I ended my rehab session after all the more specific stuff with a 100 kg paused front squat completely raw and a 140 kg x 2 stiff leg deadlift. Both felt fine (not without sensation but well within means).

I will keep going and have everything bespoke with Paul to see how much we need to change the plan. I do exactly everything that I would tell patients to do, just much more aggressively because it is my body and my responsibility and also because I have all the data and am not reliant on feedback.

Wanted to return to training slowly, but am down with a fever instead.

I really can’t catch a break. Hopefully this is nothing (and not as long) as the last time, which isn’t long ago…

I am doubting if I will do my first competition I had planned now. Seems to get more and more unlikely that I’ll be in good shape.

It’s streptococcis. Doc prescribed Penicillin. Slept half of today and already managed to sweat out the fever, which is brilliant. I am optimistic for a quick process.

I hope you’re back to “beast-mode” soon! Feel better!!

Thank you! The antibiotics are doing a great job actually and I already feel much better! The plan is to take an extra day as a safety measure and then start with training on Tuesday.

Happy to be back once again. Back feels 100 %. Rest ist going to be played by ear/ body’s feedback a bit this week. Got some instructions on how to approach weights for today and then we’ll have an idea for the rest of the week based on that.

1 hang power snatch
2 x 2 @ 73 kg
2 x 2 @ 75 kg
2 @ 78 kg

2 deadlift
3 @ 180 kg
3 @ 190 kg
3 @ 200 kg
3 @ 205 kg

3 seated btn press (no back support)
3 x 6 @ 60 kg

4 btn lat pull down
3 x 12 @ 50 kg

5 wrist curls
3 x 15 @ 35 kg

Overall happy/ content. I will do 2 more sessions this week and take the week as a kind of reload and then be back where I was before the recent setback.

Qell not at full force yet, but yes, absolutely feels great! Hopefully I can get back at it film force next week and have no further interruptions now. I have some numbers to chase and comps to do!

Speaking of comps to do, I have been really really looking forward to do the next installment of the team competition I did last year, which was so much fun! Unfortunately my team mate won’t be able to make it, which is very disappointing. I asked my mate Big Marc, if he is interested in doing it with me but he actually retired from strongman to powerlifting. Hopefully I can persuade him into doing this little comeback for fun. We would be a pretty good match, even though he is much bigger and taller. Which is the reason I am hoping they don’t bring back the tandem deadlift in the case I am teaming up with Marc. xD

1 front squats
3 @ 115 kg
3 @ 120 kg
2 x 3 @ 125 kg

2 log lift
3 @ 98 kg
3 @ 100 kg
3 + 2 extra presses @ 100 kg

3 counter box jump
5 x 2

4 paused ghd back raises
3 x 10

Still on the comeback train. Felt my body was still processing stuff, so I backed off a bit more than planned even. Reload week is coming along well so far.

Forgot my oly shoes and proper belt

1 high block power clean
5 x 3 @ 90 kg

I think I had a technique epiphany here, haha.

2 power jerk
3 x 3 @ 110 kg
1 x 3 @ 115kg

The shoes threw me off here.

3 stiff leg deadlift (beltless)
1 x 6 @ 140 kg
2 x 6 @ 150 kg

4 leg curl
3 x 10 @ 77 kg

Next week back to business!

The events for a comp in 5 weeks are out. I am not too confident. Paul said there is no issue there and he is in favor of me doing it.

1 arm over arm for 20 m
2 log lift for reps 110 kg
3 stone over bar (spray tacky only) 130 kg
4 medley farmer’s, sandbag, keg

I haven’t touched a stone in almost a year and 130 kg x 1 is my PR… Log weight is doable but currently I am in not as good a shape as I once was. But in some weeks - doable! The arm over arm would be my chance for redemption. Weights for the medley are not disclosed.

Transported the keg and 3 stones from my mate’s basement to my place. 8000 steps worth of stones on a trolley and of course it started pouring down throughout.
I was certainly the center of attention for people. I told one lady I was getting ready to attack Gondor. Not sure she got the joke.
