3 x 3 @ 120 kg

Happy international worker’s fight day! Went to the protest before training. Not ideal but important.
1 tall box power clean (just under knee)
5 x 2 @ 80 kg
2 atlas stone over bar (125 cm; spray tacky)
Fails @ 128 kg
Few @ 103 kg
3 carry medley
125 kg p.h. farmer’s + 106 kg sandbag + 87 kg keg all for 15m
- 50 sec
- 48 sec
- 49 sec
First time doing the 15m distance and it made a huge difference.
4 deficit deadlifts (3,5 cm; wl bar)
2 x 3 @ 150 kg
3 @ 160 kg
2 x 3 @ 170 kg
This was not the last training I wanted. The plan was to do the stone once more for confidence. That straight up backfired. I know it wasn’t enough rest and the protest and hot weather didn’t help.
I have a decent shot with some rest.
The medley felt slow and also like the hardest thing in the world.
Yeah so piss poor last training but the rule is, that will make for a strong comp right?!
Loz and Liz for a spreadsheet party on YT. LOL
And still this is the by far best coverage we’ve ever had. ![]()
Yer it’s crazyy really. I could live stream Australia Strongest man for free. But Worlds won’t be on in the UK until Xmas and won’t be on anywhere in Australia
True. I mean it’s completely logical that there isn’t a live stream. Although they are moving more and more into the direction of that being a possibility with how the structure is developing the last couple of years and especially this year. But at least they don’t try to hide results anymore and we rely on people peaking over a fence to know what’s going on, haha. They have realized that was a rapidly losing battle. Still wsm is inherently weird with a lot of things.
Always assumed growing up it was actually on at Christmas time, now I always try and fail miserably to avoid any news about it until Christmas, but the algorithm always throws info my way!
It’s because it has always been a TV show first and a strongman comp second. While all the $$ come from the broadcaster it won’t really change.
03.05.
1 keg c&p
7 x 1 with 30 sec rest between reps
2 axle incline bench press (paused)

German cup (2nd league) strongman competition in Walldürm
Started into this on pretty shitty sleep but that’s normal due to the nerves. Weather was gorgeous and not too hot either. I got to spend the day with my girlfriend who had her first strongman competition experience and did a great job of taking care of me. Sharing this day with her made it into a lovely memory and she had a great time as well.
Going into the competition I felt pretty good physically. Little niggle with the right elbow but otherwise good
Event 1: 20m arm over arm pull
Done with a VW bus full of heavy strongman and up an incline.
- only got it for 16.85m
Disappointing start and 27th place (of 28). The rope burned up my fingers badly and the forearm pump was so horrendous, I couldn’t make a fist anymore. Gf massaged the arms for 10 minutes straight before I could really use my hands again.
The biggest issue wasn’t that I mainly trained with a sled for this but that I only trained like 7 meters because I don’t have a longer rope.
Event 2: keg clean and press - 90 kg in 60 seconds
- I got 8 reps for a PR!
Still ecstatic about this! I planned to do 7 reps with 4 one motions but got 5 one motions and was able to finish stronger than expected. Very pumped and proud of this!
People were very close here obviously (6 way tie for 3rd place) but 8 was very competitive and got me the 11th place that I shared with 6 other guys (so 9 reps = 9th place and 10 reps = 3rd).
3rd event: atlas stone over bar - 130 kg over 1.20m, spray tacky only
So this was what I was most anxious about. In training I tried this A LOT and only got the stone off the ground twice and over the bar once…
- got 1 rep and came very close for a 2nd (PR!)
I said if I was gonna get one rep, I would be very happy with myself and that’s how it went. Even though it was the last place, I couldn’t care less. Conquered my fear!
The stone was a lot nicer to lift than the one I have manufactured. So that made a big difference as well.
Event 4: Front hold 21 kg
- got 28.27 seconds.
This was done with a pretty cool Thor’s hammer replica, so I thought @t3hpwnisher would probably love this!
We were strapped to the pole with a belt of sorts, which improved the judging. I don’t have any strong feelings about my result because I mainly compare myself with myself and there was no bar to beat. I wanted to get 25 seconds and I did. Got the 21st place.
Event 5: 15m carry medley - 120 kg farmer’s into 90 kg keg and 100 kg sandbag onto 1.30m(?)
- 43,15 seconds for 23rd place
Started out fast with the awkward farmer’s implements and the keg and then for some reason really fumbled with the sandbag that I couldn’t get a good grip on. That cost me a lot of time and a good placing and I’m a bit sour with this last performance because these types of events, I need to do well in!
Overall I had a fantastic day and am happy I went through with it despite being much more nervous than usual! I am content/ happy with my performance because it shows decent improvements overall. I finished 24th out of 28 or 29 competitiors in a strong field and was happy to see familiar faces as well as get to know cool new people. The show was run exceptionally well and smooth.
Thanks for reading if you did. ![]()
Nice work, my man! Great write-up and video, too—the keg clean & press and atlas stone events were particularly awesome to see.
Thank you my friend! Glad you enjoyed the write up and video ![]()
